    Hey, watermarking is the best idea I have heard yet. I am not sure if its possible to put something that size in an image but it's sure worth a try!

    IANAA (I am not an american), but if I remember correctly it is not illegal to take crytpo over the american border if it is in the form of a written document (ie ye ol' pen and paper). So you might as well just print the source to a book, because it would be the exact same thing. (please correct me if I am wrong)

    If you are going to ask "why is it on the front page?" the least you could do would be to show a point why it should not be. Otherwise you aren't really contributing anything to the discussion.
    And here is a reason for why it should be on: The majority of ./'ers use Linux and want to discuss what's new and what sucks in the forums.

    Caffiene just prevents you from sleeping, and thats it. Caffiene is no substitute for a long nites rest. The body needs sleep and it doesnt matter how many drugs you pump into a person, the body will allways need sleep. Obviously, I am no scientist, but I am pretty sure thats all caffiene is good for. I think we got a while until scientists can actually create drugs that give the body what it really needs when we sleep, if at all possible.

    in 50,000 years... If we cant read a CD we would really have to get back on track with evolution. Back 50,000 years ago making tools such as a spear or hand axe was rocket science. Today everybody could make a hand axe if you give them enough time to do so. If we dont kill ourselves off in 50,000 years I am sure we would be able to read a CD very easily, this would most likely be the same as us knowing how they built their pre-historic tools.

    Well, obviously some stuff that guy said was true. I am betting a lot was exaggerated though, but some of it looked right (ie freeBSD in Hotmail). No, they are all not vicous lies, we just have to sort the lies from the facts. This seems to be a very common thing in the internet age where new's sites don't check their sources and misreport. And what is the point of saying their all vicous lies? you are not adding anything to the discussion. Next time try to back up what you say with good solid facts.

    do you know that for sure? have you done extensive scientific tests? until then, assume nothing. If you think about it, half of the system is completely differnet from the other.. and of course it should make a huge difference.

    If you actually took the time to read the story you have found out that the MSN sat service is bidirectional (ie upload and download with the same hardware)

    This just in!

    DVD-CCA has is suing the makers of "Lord of the Rings" movie for using Linux. One of the lawyers for the organization says that "Anyone who uses that illegal and immoral open source software diserves to get sued". Moments later the lawyer was seen setting old ladies on fire and pushing them into oncoming traffic while chanting satanic messages.

    Stealing?? Was something stolen? Is something missing from DVD CCA's building?

    Damn straight, they distribute the css code with every dvd.. its not like they had to break into their office building in order to get it.

    Are they still pushing this DeCSS = priate tool?

    Correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think OMS (ala Livid) uses DeCSS to play the DVDs. (could somebody clear this up?)

    I think this "DeCSS is used for pirating" crap has gone on long enough. I dont think they realizes there are easier and more superior ways of pirating DVDs. When are they going to learn that? I hate this ignorant CEOs and lawyers that can tell their head from their ass. All they can speak is corporate greed, we on the other hand speak "real life". We see things for the way they are, and not from the perspective of corparate ass fucking^H^H^H^H^H^H^H pick pocketing nazi bastards. My pilosophy is "If we can crack it, they should have built it better" What gives them the right to sue anyone for defeating (or even fucking linking to it) their incompetant encryption method??? Its their own fault, they fucked up, and they are trying to sue the open source community? All I can say is fuck THAT! #End Rant

    They are also running BSDi as their OS, which is made by the same people who make FreeBSD and Slackware. BSDi is not open source, but FreeBSD and Slackware are. They are, in fact, supporting open source by providing revenue to an open source company!

    I know this is not as good as your example but its
    another display of irony by these Hollywood morons.

    That may be so...but that still doesnt change the fact there is nothing really out there to replace keyboards. Speach recognition is too hard on the old voice box, and touch screens or way to expensive, ineffecient, and annoying. I bet with the amount of time some people spend on the computer (well... I guess me as well) If you used touch screens we would all be powerlifters and in shape. My mouse and keyboard are perfectly fine for me, they are practicle and easy to use. Even if a new technology comes along I bet everyone will still use keyboards just because people prefer them and are accustom to them.
