  1. Someone is gonna make a fortune on Nokia's New All-In-One Phone · · Score: -1, Flamebait

if they just make a phone! Does anyone else not get fed up with all of this crap in phones these days? The interfaces are AWFUL and these extra "features" just get in the way and add to cost. I want a cheap, working, easy, etc.. phone. If I wanted a camera, a video player, a computer, etc.. i would get those instead!

well moores law has nothign to do with storage capacity, but regardless I understand what you are saying. I think its certainly true that total capacity isn't in a dire lack of abundance as it was a few years ago. I remember (Im not as old as you guys) 2gb drivers were huge yet still too little. I remember having to uninstall games, to delete other stuff, because I was running out. Now I have 700gb or so in my machine and I have my entire CD collection as flacs and my dvds ripped and i have room to spare. Its nice having this buffer right now, and it will likely be this way for a little bit.

havent had it happen, but I have an archive of "my stuff"- being basically I have created on a computer since in middle scool (when computers replaced pen and paper for me). One day I'll be able to find all of that stuff and rummage through it. Could be cool. I feel sorry for the people, among my generation, who dont backup anything they make on a computer... because I know they dont produce anything on paper... A generation with no past is bad news.

Its all about games. Did regular people have 3d accelerators in the early 90s? Nope. It was after the gamer adoption that people (and businesses) saw the need for them. Linux will be the same. Until gamers adopt linux, there will be no mainstream attraction to them. I would be running it 24/7 too if I had support for my games, but alas there isn't. A lot of the fault is on the game developers and of course M$ but still a focus of linux for mass consumption requires gamers.
