Major US companies like Google, Yahoo, Sun, AOL all dominate the internet commercially and our government feels left out of the billions of dollars that they have made. If they quit giving those huge businesses tax breaks then they can make a few bucks. Now they want to screw with the neutrality and to fund their own investments in telecoms and disassociate a perfectly neutral ICANN with the net so they can find other ways to squeeze a dime out of the pockets of us in the long run.
one thing that this does solidify is that, just like in politics, this will drown the xbox. microsoft will probably be able to come up with a similar controller, most likely third party, but they will likely not be able to successfully impliment the motion sensor ability. If two consoles have something that the other does not, then it will not survive. that means that consumers who have the financial means will purchase the ps3, and the rest of the world will purchase the wii. if i can get a similar experience for half the price, then i will definately take the cheaper route. nintendo is probably thrilled to death that sony has put their real compeitor, microsoft, out of the game.
if this does not happen and sony has a crappy version of the wii controller, then microsoft will overtake them and nintendo will get ports of all the games that would otherwise go to microsoft.
either way this is a victory for nintendo.

Mr. Cohen might have created bittorrent to take the load off of main servers by using untapped upload bandwidth. This works fine for free or pirated files, but when you have to pay to download something nobody is gonna seed. the ratio will mean nothing to them. People only do it now for cred, the ratio at their fav torrent site, or for the simple fact that they want to belong to something - the idea that 'hey, all of us non-topsiters' have to kind of work together to get the contraband that we want'
Sony is not my peer. If I pay them 40$$ to download a new game because I don't have time to run to the store and pick it up I am absolutely not going to seed. Why would I when I can download it from a my fav torrent site for free and prob faster because of all the hit and runs with the 'official' torrent. The only way that would ever work is if they insisted that you download their BT client that would not allow you to play the game or watch the movie or whatever until the ratio was 1:1. Even then I could just go to my fav BT site and download the crack for it - still twice the trouble of just downloading it for free in the first place.
