  1. Re:Campaign Editor... on UC Berkeley Offering Starcraft Course · · Score: 4, Informative

The class website has already posted the first three weeks of homework assignments, and the syllabus. There are sections for notes and for classwork, but they are blank. From the syllabus, this is the projected course load:

    (Tentative) Course Outline:
Week 1: Orientation / Competitive Gaming Industry Overview / * StarCraft Boom in Korea
Week 2: Units, Strength, Weakness, Attributes, Stats
Week 3: Fighting Micro and Unit Use
Week 4: Army Movement and Positioning
    Week 5: Expo and Macro
Week 6: Building Placement and Base Layout
    Week 7: Scouting and Counters
    Week 8: Harass
Week 9: Overloading the Enemy, Multi-plays
Week 10: Economic Basis, Micro vs Macro
Week 11: Timing and Evaluation of Resources
    Week 12: Deception
Week 13: Mindset and Series Play
    Week 14: Tournament

About the use of the campaign editor, I think it's likely that they will make use of it briefly to outline specific situations. However, there are third party starcraft map editors that are more powerful than the built-in one, and for any custom maps, it's likely that SCMdraft will be the map editor of choice. Based off of the course syllabs, my guess is that they will focus on pro maps both new and old, and all-time favorites.

Because they didn't report it first either? The posting date on the article is from January 27. This topic was posted by the student teaching the decal on January 22, to a popular foreign (i.e. not Korean) starcraft website. Or you could just link to the facebook group, or the class website.

I think the only word to describe that is 'Terrifying'. I'm utterly horrified. I knew there was some corruption and double-dealing, but I didn't realize it goes this far. I want to believe in my country, but things like this keep coming up. I'm afraid of seeing a new Bush crony in office. If this keeps up, I'm afraid that we'll declare war on Iran, reinstate the draft, and the next thing I know I'll be patrolling streets in Tehran, hoping that nobody tries to bomb me. But most of all, I'm afraid that there are people out there, desperate to enforce their view of America on me, on my countrymen. What liberties will our 'representatives' take away in the years to come? How can we make the public aware?

I'm scared of not being able to find porn on the internet. While of course that will never happen, it's clear to me that the only filter we need is for our government so that they can live in happy ignorance (until they try to find their favorite porn site) so that we can all enjoy our porn in peace.

I've looked through my friends camera before, checking for pictures of myself. I think it's safest that way, if a picture is deleted at the source, it can't get uploaded. Of course the best method for not having pictures taken of myself is to be ugly. I've had the most sucess with that, I'm never in the pictures :-)

  17. Re:"This test, he charged, was inhumane" on Soldiers Bond With Bots, Take Them Fishing · · Score: 5, Informative

A quick google search of 'define: inhumane' returns: "lacking kindness" "lacking and reflecting lack of pity or compassion; 'humans are innately inhumane; this explains much of the misery and suffering in the world"; "biological weapons are considered too inhumane to be used' " If google is to be believed, inhumane has nothing to do with treatment of humans. Inhumane is simply a word for cruelty, regardless of species.

You can't argue that inhumane isn't the correct term because robots aren't human. We use the same term for mistreating animals. The difference lies in that animals, like humans but unlike robots, can feel pain.

The Two towers, directly after the sacking of Isengard, Gimli was talking to Merry and Pippin (who are filthy little hobbitses, yes my precious, hobbitses) about the draughts of the Ents.
