What about this thing? It sure is a hell of a lot cheaper than a Buffalo Terraserver (at $355 vs ~$800) and seems to do what you want. It supports up to 1TB, has gigabit ethernet, uses SATA drives and runs on an Xscale processor.
Nope, I don't work the company either. I'm just thinking about buying one for someone. (Disclaimer: I've never used one of these, it just fits the specs...)
No really, you can't. A family member has a Sony digital camera and a Clie. Both use memory sticks and both came with one. But you can't swap memory sticks (I believe one is a "magic gate" one). That's why they suck.
Doesn't anyone read these articles? I can't imagine anyone else would let this jewel slip by...

Cool, i'll just pick up my mouse and write on my CRT. Oh, wait, I guess that doesn't work for the desktops. Hmmm... I guess i'll try my shiny, new TiBook. Well, I tried, but now all I have is crayon all over my LCD.
Hell, this is as good of a reason as any to download them. Try buying *all* of Uncle Tupelo's albums. What? You can't? They don't publish 3 out of 4 of their albums.
In Excession, this has already happened with a faction of Culture, called the Zetetic Elench, if I remember correctly. Banks doesn't make a big deal out of it though in that it's not the big split you suggest Culture would go through.
>This only does part of what a real PVR does. >Half the attraction of a Tivo is how you can >pause and rewind live TV, which it is always >recording 24/7.
This is the part I am most curious about. Does anyone know an open source project that does just this?
>Buy the game - support bioware for porting to linux.
This is the dumbest thing i've heard in a while. Buy the game and pray they port it to Linux (in a timely fashion, not Loki's ten years too late). Why?
How about you wait until they release a Linux port and *then* buy the game? Wouldn't that be a more effective tool to show BioWare that you appreciate their Linux port?
The internet was developed by DARPA for the military. It was never meant for college students, it was meant to help the defense department deal with a nuclear bomb.

Is there any difference between the two? I could care less what you are doing with a Cray.
Let me see if I get this straight. I walk up to some homeless guy on the street. I ask him his story. He tells me he used to be a banker, had a perfect life and then *BANG*. One day he had nothing and was cast out on the streets. Now, i'm supposed to give this guy money because he can't look past his own pity-party to get his ass in gear and deal with life? Please.
I don't see how the excuse that being "hit by something outside their control" gives anyone the right to just give up on life and demand sympathy and support from other people.
Tell me that you have never taken a fall in life. Did you just quit?

Amazon: Uncle Tupelo
(For the record, I own all of those albums, but it was damn hard to find them when the labels do not want to sell them to me).

Wrong. Don't worry it is a common mistake. The U.S.A. is a democratic *republic*.

This is an urban myth. It keeps getting bandied back and forth. I always wonder if people
ever bother to look up the facts. I guess not.
Hell, there was even a Slashdot story about this myth.
Here's another link for you if you want to know: Urban Legends.
