While it is quite possibly more about the copyright attatched to the five interlocking rings. It should be noted that here in Oz there is something of a furore over a missing advert on the TV network thats showing our Games coverage. Channel 7 had booked and accepted payment (made solely from public donations) for a free tibet advert to be shown before and after the olympic closing ceremony. They later claimed that no such ad had been booked, which changed very quickly to we didn't have time once the reciepts and scheduling documents were provided to the network and its rivals. There have been several other 'reasons' supplied by channel 7 for the missing ad now. However, the organisation getup.org.au has been a bit of a thorn in the side of politics lately, and as a grassroots activism endeavour it has been highly successful if not a bit far on the left, with some dubious links to the labour party.

Guess my point is, don't put it past the IOC to have this pulled for its content both political and copyright. IMHO if they can get a major aussie network to break a contract, it's going to be no different for youtube.

He followed on with it for a while amongst other things (why are you here? what are you studying? is this your passport? why are you not travelling on your british passport? Where else have you been?). I had just been round europe, and been to russia on my british passport after Japan.I only had two visas in my Aussie passport japan and thailand, and only russia in my british. But, thanks I didn't know that. When I hit the States again next year I'll kick up shit if they feed me that again. Cheers.

I got one of these new fandangled passports a few years ago when I went to Japan, got fingerprinted electronicly at customs and thought nothing of it, with all the post 9/11 sentiment it sucks but i can't see it going away now. Anyway point is I'm an ex chef (still part time while at uni), so when I flew into newark to go visit my girlfriends parents with her in Fargo I get hustled into an interview room. I thought it was on account of being heavily tattoed and having dreadlocks and being under 30. Anyway, I get grilled by this mean assed gentlemen from customs about how I got this passport. Turns out the damage done to my hands over the course of two years, meant that thier software didn't match the biometric that Japanese customs had put on there. Got sorted out eventually, 2 hours nearly missed my connection from JFK. Was more bemused than anything, US customs don't get Aussie humour thats for sure.

No-one smokes before work or during, however after working ten hours doing some rather depressing work, you go for a beer to blow off steam. The RN's I work with have about as many vices as the Chef's I used to work with when I did that.

So do you feel like taking your little rant into hospitals like GW's oncology ward and abuse the staff?

Furthermore, to take a stand against crackpots while juggling your own domestic issues is admirable, and certainly doesn't deserve a legal slap in the face for trying to a) educate people through her blog and b)debunk crackpot theories that only seek to gain monetary gain through litigation and not practical solutions. I think this lawyer has watched to many movies and wants to get a sex change. Its a shame this woman had to go through this kind of shit in the first place. Frank Abignail was a kid who turned himself into a criminal and should have known better. This kid, like most, did not consider school to be inside of societies legal constraints. That's a serious error of judgement and if he'd been aware of the consequences then his actions may well have been different. Yet it's not necessarily the criminal act it's being made out to be. Yeah, he doeas deserve an ass kicking, but punishment should be fitting.

Making an example of people just means that other people will be more careful to avoid getting caught. Look at Plato's Dialogue on the Ring of Gyges Plato was damn astute for his time, and got the morality of the masses down to a fine art.

How much better did any of us know at 18, can you legally drink in the US at 18? So why if your not treated as a full member of society should you be expected to behave and be punished as one? I'm not advocating a break with SCT, it's done the world a lot of good. However, I am questioning it.

No-one got hurt, sure he needs to be punished but hell make it relevant. He was flunking school and essentially cheated through him in a minimum security jail and leave him there till he gets his A+ average in his exams and then let him out. Justice and morals have their place in society, but this is just taking the piss. If it was white collar crime for millions, say here in australia you'd get a two year minimum security sentence for ruining thousands of lives. Thats more or less saying hey mate, bad luck you got caught better luck next time. Meanwhile a kid makes a big mistake and they take most of his life from him?
