his later works were just a fraction of the greatness of his earlier works but still good.

The problem with this I see outside of South Korea is the infrastructure, the reason why this works in Korea (from what I understand) started way back with the ubiquity of mobile phones they developed the technology to make payments through their mobile bill, and as an evolution of that they can make micro payements through their phonebills.

That infrastructure does not really exist in the west so it will make it hard for people to adopt this system, how many kids do you know that have access to a credit/debit card, and how many do you know with a mobile phones.

The convenience in micropayments makes this system work maybe gaming will spearhead the release of this system in the west...

a lot of people seem to be comparing the pandora to things like the lynx and gizmondo etc.
The point of the pandora isnt for global domination of the portable market.
It is not a direct competitor to systems like the PSP or NDS.
It's a niche market but damned if it isn't the best of its kind, it has the potential to go head to head with the current handhelds but realistically no way that the pandora devs have access to the billions nintendo and sony have.
It is a homebrew kit, much like the GP32 and GP32X and if you appreciate it based on its target audience and its history of conception, it's pretty damn impressive.
It should be in the best interest of the homebrew community to make sure this project is a success.

It was only after the DRM was cracked and region locking was cracked and the players were mass produced in china for tiny sums did player prices plumet. I don't get it all these people complaining about The jump isnt that big, downloads are the future. firstly, baing that download quota is limited for me, it would annoy me to have to have hidden costs in purchasing something and then having to download it. The ability for me to have physical media is a bonus for me, wanna watch a movie at a mates? take the disc or spend time downloading the content from my account etc etc secondly blu ray is progression its an incremental step into better quality. you didnt expect to be watching dvd quality things forever now did you?

Well copying a rental would be piracy which is kinda illegal. I think DRM is in its infancy and its having its bubble(like the internet) all the companies are jumping on it, wait long enough there will be the bubble burst and only the good DRM (Steam is a good example) will be around.

I think you should be more proactive and let sony know that their policy sucks, by not using their service (using typical uppermanagement thinking) they will be hesitant to try out new things, that in the end starve us from inovation. If you want things changed speak up, like a previous commenter said, when it hinders the enjoyment of the end user, they are not doing DRM properly

  14. Excuses and stuff on Game Developer's Response To Pirates · · Score: 1

lets cut the BS There are a lot of reasons why people pirate, the number one reason is... because its free! think about it. the other reasons are, because they can't afford it honestly there was a time in everyone life when you didn't buy legit because you didn't have the money. third reason, the item is lackluster, there is so much crap out there that you are not going to risk putting down cash for something that could be bad. solution to this, make quality goods and people will come. add things like DRM to make your crap even crappier and don't get surprised that no one is buying your cruddy software. Don't blame piracy for bad sales, blame your over inflated prices, blame your designers. People will rarely pirate goods that they deem worthy, and they can afford.

The occupants of the SUV may be scrambled, but your momentum has just done a 180 =S But this is only in the case of head to head collisions the bigger car would be better off. Collision with static entities tho civics would be better off tho.

Games that have everything unlocked is kinda like coke, big rush at the start when u get overwhelemed with everything but then the crash when you realise thats all the games has to offer. Games with things locked have a constant stream of excitement, because you are never sure of when you have unlocked everything, how many times have u unlocked something and thought, cool, much more stuff is there and checked gamefaqs? Soul calibur 3 is a nice example, making players work for bonuses and hidden chars is a nice touch, forces players to master the game through repetition bringing up the overall level of gameplay in the market. A bad example would be, Capcom Vs SNK and anything that forces players to earn points to unlock things in a shop. The payout rate was WAAAAAY to low for that game, unlocking the 3 hidden chars and Ex modes for everyone took forever, I think capcom realised this and stopped using this formula, At least were making progress.
