Yea there are times when I think my countrymen have a memory like a goldfish.... they only retain the last session of what was on CNN, everything before that is lost.
I personally just hope that either
A) Our government leaks or does something so stupid and brazin that it wakes people from there prescription drug coma.
or
B) Enough people that are actually aware of whats going on get united and toss all of these idiots out of office, but not before making them beg the world for forgivness for all of the murder and mayhem they have caused.
And there in lies the problem. Our media coverage for a number of these events is skewed or conveniently leaves certain detail out of the story to steer a persons thinking. It reminds me something my father taught me long ago. There are lies of submission and lies of omission. The latter is far more dangerous than the former.
or worse yet how her flight jacket sealed the hole she shot in the cockpit. Sorry, but that thing would rip apart and fly out the second she left the atmosphere...
Wake up man. The interenet is the cheapest and easier distribution method the world has ever seen. The need for companies such as AOL is rapidly disappearing. Do you think that in 10 years or so anyone or any group will need some big label to distribute for them?? With places like YouTube, and the wonders of P2P someone could advertise and distribute more music and video than they could ever hope to come up with.
IMHO AOL shot themselves in the foot with this stunt because they are just showing that they are like a 5 year old child pouting that they didn't get their way so they are going to do anything they can to make a problem.
The thing that really stumps me is what AOL thinks they will achieve with this. Do they honestly think that it will stop people from prereleasing content?? Hell no, if anything it'll now become a benchmark for any number of things.

Cheaper to produce, my ass. They'll be charging an arm and a leg for this type of memory
Quite possibly actually, but it won't be cheaper for consumers until they've recouped their R&D costs first...
When you're terrified of Gatorade On A Plane, you're not Free
This is the very thing that most people seem to forget the second CNN comes on. Freedom isn't easy and isn't 100% safe no matter how badly people want to insulate themselves. Thousands of people did VERY unsafe things to have their freedom throughout the history of the world.
I don't get it. I keep reading a number of people having issues with Firefox, but almost every issue that people complain about I have never seen or see on an extremely infrequent basis. Right now I'm writing this on version 1.0.6 which on all accounts should be extremely unstable. However looking at taskmanager, it is using 0-1% cpu (on a 3.2 Ghz P4 in HT mode) and about 87MB of ram. Now considering I have about 15 webpages open at this one time I'm not surprised of the mem usage. I activly use flash and view streaming video with it as well. The only time I've seen Firefox have issues is on one of the various dists of linux that I plop on my laptop. Some being worse than others. And it's not like I started using it last week, I've been running it for a few years now on various windows boxes with little to no issue.... I'm I just a really lucky bastard?
10-12 years ago planes were not falling from the sky on ANY kind of regular basis, and that was when I could take a 4" pocket knife onboard without anyone blinking an eye.
Aircraft aren't falling from the sky daily because if they were there would be other systems put in place to prevent it, ones that would truly be effective. Terrorists don't have the desire to knock down planes daily. They just want to take them down in a manner to instill the most fear possible and cause the knee jerk reaction from the US government that makes air travel a pain in the ass, but only hinders terrorism to a small extent.
IMHO there isn't really much of a way to secure a plane other than not allowing ANYONE to bring on any form of luggage and have the pilots 100% physically separated from the passengers. The problem with this is that no passenger would want to deal with the associated inconvenience of it, I know I wouldn't
At least thats my humble opinion
I knew there would be a use for thier rootkit tech! Now all we have to do it write a program that constantly rewrites the files you want changed everytime windows repairs itself! Just make sure you have a dual proc with plenty of disk bandwidth so your normal apps can still run.
I hear ya there. I worked for a Rat Shack for about a year when the whole tech market crashed. I went there because I remember them being a good place from when I was a kid and learning about electronics. I was shocked to see what it had become! Even their training books that they forced me to read and "certify" on on were a joke. Several things that were stated in there were 1/2 truths at best.
The best part about it however was that I was able to demonstrate to the district manager that the old fasion way of selling (Be honest and be accurate) yields far more profit in the long run. I made the store more money than the manager did because of this. When I left they lost about 50+ customers because those customers wouldn't deal with anyone other than me.
It was interesting, but I would never care to do it again.
What is generally enough to keep thieves out is a) basic human morality, and b) the law. Otherwise we'd all be getting robbed every single night - after all, most of us live within earshot of hundreds of other human beings
Now while I do agree with those 2 points there is a third I believe you've overlooked. That would be the use of self defense. If more people took it upon themselves to be prepared to defend there own home should someone choose to break into it I think that B&E would come down considerably. The thought of going to jail is certainly a deterrant, but being shot and possibly killed is a much stronger one IMHO....
I don't know about you but I don't feel too comfortable with the idea of calling 911 and then waiting 5 or more minutes for someone to get to my home while someone unwelcome is in my home.
And no this is not a troll and I'm not trying to beat a dead horse... I'm just stating a fact...
I know this is a troll, but on this one I just can't keep quiet...
I honesly feel sorry for your sir, you obviously have been brainwashed since you were very young and are/have missed out on an excellent part of the human experience. You view sex simply as a function of procreation, when it is in fact dual purpose. There are a great deal of positive things show by a number of studies I've read over the years. I'm not able to post any links because I work for a government institution and viewing anything reguarding sex at work is strictly off limits. IIRC studies have shown that people who engage in sex on a regular basis tend to be much happier people, and also tend to live longer. Now I'm sure this is because of multiple reasons. Anyone out there care to post a couple articles of these studies?
For those who choose it, you simply marry them to their significant other, and no divorce allowed until the children are adults.
Umm, somehow I don't think thats going to create a positive environment for the "parents" of the child. I don't care how mature you are at the age of 16... your not capable of raising a child.
Implying that it can be done "safely" is a lie at best. But the rest I most certainly DO agree with- just be sure to tell the WHOLE truth, not just the recreational half-truth that sex is just intercourse and only takes sleeping together and one night stands.
I, and may of my friends for that matter, have enjoyed the recreational side of sex for about 10 years now. I get gotten myself tested a couple times to make sure that I haven't gotten and or spreading anything. Now after this 10 years, because I know how to have safe sex, I have no children and no STDs. So your "point" of saying it can't be done safely is proposterous at best.
Completely agreed. And when you have laws that back that up; requiring people take parental responsibility, then there's no need for birth control at all.
Sure.... that makes sense... a person that by your definition is irresponsible by having sex in the first place because it was for recreational purposes is now supposed to be responsible enough to parent a child....
Actually the guild I work with in WoW is extremely social. I would have to say that we spend 60-70% of our time talking about anything from personal issued to world events. We've also all gotten together for a large party, and about 25 people showed up! So yes I would say that in a number of situations these games do promote being social. I would also like to note the the previous guild I was in I had many conversations with other players that had nothing to do with the game. So I don't think that my experience is an isolated one. Anyone else have a similar experience?
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with an ATI Mobility X300 64MB. I installed Mandriva 2006 and EVERYTHING worked on the laptop with the exception of the SD card reader out of the box. I've used the video in dual head mode as well with no trouble. Also on another workstation that I have at home which has a Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB in it worked just fine with an out of the box Fedora Core 4 install. Again using dual head.
Thats any linux distro you goon. Don't get me wrong for as much as I love linux, it isn't as easy to just sit down and use as a Windows system. Now while Windows is a security nightmare and has a number issues I have to agree with one of the other posts on here. Windows took over because of it's ease to install, change, and add to. IMHO, the main problem we have here goes back to a more fundamental issue.... Being Lazy. The bulk of the population out there wants instant gratification for as little effort as possible. As long as people aren't willing to spend a little extra time to look after their computer and their OS the security will always be a problem. Houses aren't broken into most of the time because of the locks on the front door, and most people will lock the house when they leave. To most people the computer exists in another realm or something. They don't think about it NEEDING to be secure. They are slowly learning this by the number of virus and other various attacks, but it's going to take a bit more before it's mainstream....
Thats why they have the ignore feature in the game!!!! This ticks me off. tons of people have said things about players saying stupid things and then crying about it either to blizzard or on forums. If someone is saying something you don't want to listen to type
/ignore %playername%

You couldn't be more right. Hell I've run a network consulting "company" out of my house before. It cost me.... well nothing that I didn't already have! Now trying to be a telco provider for even a small town of a few thousand.... that will prolly be more money than I will make in my lifetime. Plus who wants to bet the "big" guys wouldn't even let me link to their pipe so my little town could talk with the rest of the world.
Bah as long as their ghosts don't have cloaking tech we're ok. That and the loud "Nuclear Launch Detected" should give us enough warning. :)
Um, I don't know where you shop in the US.... At all the grocery stores in my area (Arizona) it's called "ground beef"

I completely agree. However the problem isn't so much they are sheep, it is who gets to be shepherd.
To make matters worse, it's not easy to change the shepherd either...
