I don't see why this was modded funny, it's very serious. Testing like this now is essential if we want to have any reliable ability to do things like this in future.
It was meant as a joke, mainly. Although you never know, it's possible that it could never have been discovered if not for patents -- it's just not very likely.:P
Of course patents help science and tech! If patents hadn't existed, The Great E could never have gotten a job at the patent office, and may never have ended up making his amazing findings, or maybe never publishing them.
I wrote the Canadian Computing Competition (Junior Level) last year. I was in grade 10, most of the contestants were grade 11, and I placed tenth out of about 550. If I had read that article beforehand, I would still have placed tenth out of about 550.
Likewise, as I was reading about the Yellowstone one recently. When and if Yellowstone goes, it'll kill many more than we've seen happen in most disasters in recorded history.
Congrats at having a post which has a title completely unrelated to the content of the post. I'll reply to the title.
No, it's not copy protected. RTFA.
RTFA!
Yes, it will be.
When they offered music for download from their website there was none, if I recall correctly. I doubt they've have changed their tune now.
Why isn't this labled as "Sony"? I decided to look for all articles about their great evils, only to realize that this wasn't among them.
Yes, because Internet Explorer is so much better than Firefox. [/sarcasm]
I used to use it, but when I was convinced to try out GAIM (which supports Jabber in the free, and only version), and found it better.
Free + Open Source + Better vs. Paid + Commercial + Worse
http://www.google.com/reader is a 404, but a few locations in the script link to it. Nifty.
Better to be "stuck" with iTunes, which has a player I like, than one of the Window Media formats, which have a crappy player.

If you spend all day email jokes and images, then you're IQ's probably already pretty abysmal.

And back in time?

Where would we be then?
Go die somewhere.
...for not properly researching what they were going to use. A little time before can save a lot of time after.

Hmm. I seem to do this "reveal the flaw only to the author" method. The "author" gets annoyed with me if I tell anyone else.
