  1. Nokia DOES sync with PC on The Nokia 7650 Cell Phone w/ Integrated Camera · · Score: 1

Go check their website, dude. Nokia DOES sync. They've got almost a dozen different softwares. I did it with my 7160, I do it with my 3320, and if you manage to find the right cable you can do it with all the recent models.

  2. Re:I do it Old style, and it rocks on The Nokia 7650 Cell Phone w/ Integrated Camera · · Score: 1

the first bluetooth phones just arrived here in the jungle, but at + US$500, they're a bit expensive.

When the price downs, I'll buy a Bluetooth Memory Stick. It's not the ideal, but it does the job.

  3. I do it Old style, and it rocks on The Nokia 7650 Cell Phone w/ Integrated Camera · · Score: 2, Interesting

I loved the 7650 when it first arrived at Nokia's website, but since then I acquired a Sony Cybershot and a Sony Clié. Know what? I can take pictures whenever I want, and if I need to post them, All I need to do is remove the Memory Stick from the Camera, stick it in the Clié, and dial my ISP (thanks heaven for TDMA mobile phones with data services).

With a stantard TCP/IP connection, I can FTP, mail-attach or post the pictures, edit HTML files to comment the images, you name it.

Not so integrated? OK, but overall, I have much more quality and flexibility. The 7650 took to long to arrive.

Of course, when in deep geek mode, the best thing to do is start ICQ and tease your friends about the beer. People hate the "I'm at the bar, where are you?" line ;)

  4. I did it 15 days before an hostile takeover on Is it Wrong to Accept an Employment Counter-Offer? · · Score: 1

A bank offered me TWICE my pay, and I said YEAH, but since my manager is also a long time friend, I talked to him before accept.

It was a surprise, but the IT Director ordered him to make a counter-offer. I accepted (the same raise, less trouble, same old bar buddies).

15 days latter, our mother company decided to absorb all their online ventures (us). Result? two weeks of sleepless nights, nobody knew what was going to happen, and my only hope was to receive my upgraded paycheck, clean some bills and loans, and start again at another place.

Since I'm a damn lucky SOB, I was NOT laid off, my income remains the same and the new IT Director (Oh yes, the president and IT Director were fired in the process) loves me.

Conclusion? It was NOT worth the stress.

Here in my company the entire IT team socializes a lot. In fact, we drink EVERY night. 4 of 5 nights, some folks from other departments join us.

On weekends, we usually end at someones home, to drink (more), watch DVDs, or play Age of Empires. Of couse, at night we go to bars (again).

The atmosphere here is plain friendly, our ladies know each other, and we do cover our friends when someone wants to "jump the fence" (if you didnt get the analogy, dont ask).

Even some Directors come and join us (when time allows).

Easy, friendly, and, above all, forgiving. People don't have the right to make mistakes under Linux. It is wrong. It's a pitty (sp?) nobody is doing hard research to make it friendlier. (sp?). It's not enough to be good, one must be gentle.

There's a big diference when you're plain stupid and when you are in a "lack of knowledge" situation. I can't pilot a space shuttle, but I know I don't want to press something called "selfdestruction", "explosive escape doors" or "fuel dump valvle". People do stupid things and call tech support with stupid questions. Techies ALSO do stupid things. I know a team of two, they had a task: get a single-HD PC and install a slave HD. The cable was single-drive only. They disconected it from the motherboard, and conected each end of the cable to a drive. The first proof of intelligence is when one can laugh at himself. I did a lot of stupid things, and even screamed at a poor lady at the phone when she asked me politely to shut down my crashed DTV decoder, and turn it on again. "Listen, young lady! I work with computers for 20 years. I KNOW it's a program glitch, and I NEED to speak to a tech support engineer, a simple shutdown will NOT solve anything..." Of course I forgot a shutdown is a cure for 99% of everything in computer problems, and after I did it (just to make her shutup and see how smart I was) everything worked fine... EVERY newbie I talked to have a lot of stories, they love to tell how stupid they were, the silly things they did. It's a learning, life is a learning. You can't shield people from doing stupid things, so let's at least laugh about it.
