...all data written on Sony BD-RE and BD-R disks will transfer ownership to Sony. You must pay a monthly subscription fee to retain this data. All BD-R and BD-RE will be produced by sony, or a sony authorized distributor. No 3rd party will be allowed to create blank media for uses with any Sony(TM) Blu-Ray(TM) Drive(TM) without Sony's written consent, and giving up power of attorney to Sony to reflect the prices of recordable media. On a good note, Drives will cost $0.50 each.
^^^^^^^Sarcasm.... but I have a sad feeling that its not far off.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not anti-GoOgle. But it seems as if Google buys companies with good software. Spins it around, calls it their own, and its not as good as the original.
Amen!
As I find myself playing more old school games over playing these AWESOME looking and SOUNDING games....
The Revolution is starting to make a boatload more sence to me.
PS3 has these capabilities. Minus the Fun. ISNT THAT WHAT A GAME IS? FUN!!!! Its no fun if you end up with a credit card bill that wont get paid off until the next gen console releases.
If you want a real experience. Get off your ass, travel somewhere. Visit a new place and experience things that no video game could ever do. Bluray can kiss my ass. So can DRM.
How many of us have family that dont play games but are computer illiterate? So many distros have managed to meet the criteria for a so-called perfect OS alternative. Ubuntu is it... or if you dont think its it, it will be. Near perfect project management and one of the best foundations to build on, Ubuntu isn't going anywhere. Good job IBM, here's a cookie.
While I'm not staying away from gentoo or my flavor of slack(SLAMD64! w00t,) I will be putting more fear in the eyes of my WinONLY friends just because I know finally I can provide them with an alternative that can relate to them. While Novell and RedHat has done a great job, I think Ubuntu will be the open source monster that most of us have been waiting for. Who woulda thunk it! With a name like Ubuntu!
Rules of successful businesses.
1.) Listen to consumer
2.) Don't lie to consumer
3.) Make decisions based on companies largest comodity, not companies largest stock holders
4.) Don't ignore competition
Im a big fan of solaris 2.6, one of the Best OS's ever. Solaris 10 is the closest thing Sun has made to come back to that level, but since it lacks so much, the plus's are so heavily overshadowed. Its not a Linux killer, and I'm sick of it being compared to Linux. Its more-so a cousin to linux, than a stranger.
Sun has made some strides recently, while it isnt enough to get the "geeks" to convert(as mentioned a numerous times,) its the stepping stone they need.
The alliance with AMD is also going to help both companies do things that they both have been underdogs in.
I don't see Solaris dying, or anyone killing Linux. But I do see Solaris 10 as night and day compared to Solaris 9. Now once it does have the mass hardware support and a better 3rd party open source support group, it would definately be a tough OS to woe away.
