    We've machines here that need MS DOS 5.x not 6.x. Win 3.11 and Windows 9x are also still required for a lot of stuff.

    What about support from the IT department? It surely is easier to make sure laptops (if they're the same model) work properly and are easier to repair as well.

    Hehehehe, I've had the exact opposite experience.
    Laptops are a bitch to repair.
    Yes, even with Dell business support.

    Is it Die-caid or De-cad?
    I've heard both of them by prominent native speakers.

    You forget the book that teaches you phonetic symbols and how to pronounce them based on common words in your native tongue.
    That can go very wrong if you're living in a very strong dialect region.

    Where you do save a crapload of time is things like the integrated revision system.

    Well I do think so, it's also pretty consistent in my opinion.
    What really annoys me is the mixed BSD/GNU userland though.

    Evolution, like you say, is a process. It doesn't have an opinion. It doesn't have a goal. Humans will keep evolving, and each generation will be a little bit better adapted to survive and br ed than the last. Your opinion on the way that happens is irrelevant.

    This is not completely true, evolution doesn't have an endgoal like your reply seems to imply.

    He made the point that IP are useful because patents document an invention, information otherwise lost. He brings the example of Violin vs. Saxophone. I think his intention is correct, but should be solved by open standards as documentation, not patents.

    They waited for Adolph Sax to die in the gutters so they could manufacture his instrument for free.
    Same thing happened with the creator of the tv iirc.
