    The most interesting thing which the summary skipped over is from the Renesys article which states that apparently Cuba is only using the new fibre cable for downstream traffic and that upstream traffic is still going out via their satellite links.

    I noticed this last night when lwatch just start spewing out failed authentication attempts. One point that I don't really see mentioned is that they will try a wide variety of different usernames. A snippet from auth.log:

    An easy method to out-smart them that has been mentioned before is to simply change the SSH port.

    Couldn't this just be some new anti-piracy feature similiar to WGA? Adobe's Given that a it is rather easy to download a pirated copy of CS3 and the fact that an actual retail copy costs quite a bit of money I would say that this is a plausible explanation.

    That's a good idea however a better one would be to wrap the drive in tin foil before you send it back. It seems that there is not much you can do to stop Apple from stealing your data however the tin foil coating will at least prevent the Russian spy satellites from stealing the data while the drive is in transport.
