  1. The Cartoon on Chrome Vs. IE 8 · · Score: 1

My recommendation is that you don't ignore this. I wish all documentation was written to explain something in such incredibly plain English.

I downloaded Chrome, read the whole thing and by the time I was done, was sold. Not in a marketing sense, but in a usability sense. By the time I'd done reading, I was encouraged to use many of the key features.

There's few times when something is free, and out of the box replaces the old. This one accomplishes the feat.

Now, I just want Linux versions, but looking at the technology behind it, I doubt Google will be the one making such a version. Hopefully others will.

Now consider a different European country. Instead of selling non-lead-free electronics in the United States, it sells slaves in Sudan. This company would be acting in accord with the law in Sudan.

This is just as far to the right of reality as the parent post is to the left.

Reality is a lot simpler. Should MSN, Yahoo and AOL be allowed to profit while Google sits on it's principles? Google has not yet stated what it will do with Chinese revenues. They can always choose to forego ad revenues in China, or use Chinese profits to fight censorship on another battlefront.

For example, I buy a song on iTunes. I should be able to put it on an MP3 player, burn it to a CD, whatever I want for personal use, including sharing it with close personal friends. I don't expect to be allowed to share it on the internet or sell it or anything not considered fair use.

It is NOT acceptable when my rights for personal use are heavily restricted.

Yet if we ask where mathematics works best, it is in areas like particle physics and astrophysics, areas of fundamental science that are very, very far removed from everyday affairs.' 'It suggests to me that consciousness and our ability to do mathematics are no mere accident, no trivial detail, no insignificant by-product of evolution.'
Many agree and still many others disagree. The point is the jury's still going to be out for a long, long time yet.
  11. The entire label on Creationist Textbook Stickers Declared Unconstitutional · · Score: 2, Insightful
    The entire label:

"This textbook contains material on evolution. Evolution is a theory, not a fact, regarding the origin of living things. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully and critically considered."

The only way we can make progress on any theory is with an open mind. After all, that's what allowed the theory of evolution to come about in the first place. It's not like the label said that the students should consider the alternative of creation.

Furthermore, there are many scientists at the highest level who have questioned the theory of evolution, and far from all of them are creationists. Anyone who truly wants to advance science and has a degree of humility could readily accept the contents of that label at par.

Go ahead and mod my opinions down, as is so typical in the slashdot forum. It will only make me think moreso than ever that evolutionists are not above engaging in the occasional witch hunt, just like any other, um...religion.

Even traditional allies like Canada have provided little support in recent conflicts from both national leaders (excluding Don Cherry) and the general population. And, while Britain is still a monstrously strong ally, it seems to be the leadership rather than the people who give that strong support.

I live in the U.S. and love this country and have made better friends here than anywhere else. However, Americans need to realize that they are increasingly becoming disliked in more than just Islamic radical circles, and take action to be a good world community participant.

And, no I'm not underpaid. I am well compensated for my work, and in fact make as much or more than any other coder in my company, thank you.
