I can stream HD video (movie trailers from apple's site) on my netbook. There is a dual core atom? Where? It looks like dual core cause of hyper threading, but it is still a single core CPU. Well, the 1.6Ghz one in the netbooks that I have seen are anyway. The trailers streamed and played fine under linux (ubuntu 8.10 and ubuntu remix), OSX 10.5, XP Pro, and win 7. I needed to install the proper player to view them, but once installed no issues.

The flash websites (which drive me crazy in a bad way) have no issues that I have seen. The people that were loading up those flash stuff (badger, badger, badger, badger, ... is stuck in my head forever now) had no issues watching them. Is there some different flash that you are talking about?

Flash has more requirements then HD 720p? The small screen limited me to 720p. The higher resolutions did stream, but I only saw part of the video. The rest was off the screen. The 8.9 inch screen on the netbook it not a 1080p screen.

Sneakier way that I have seen. The bad guys slide this metal piece into the ATM slot. This catches your card bit will not release it. Some even let you make your transaction but still keep the card. Usually one of the bad guys is around the ATM watching. They walk up pretending to help. They ask you to enter in you pin again or ask for your pin so they can enter the pin. Either way they now have your pin. Nothing works of course. You go away, they take out the piece of metal with your card. Now they have your pin and your card.

I read about this. I have so far taken 4 pieces of metal out of the ATM card slot at 3 different location around the Washington DC area. All 4 times, someone very quickly left the scene. I did report it to the each bank when they were open again. All 4 times happen to be after 9PM.

Look at the ATM slot before you put your card in. If it looks like there is a extra thin piece of metal, either go to a different ATM, or see if you can take it out. I used the trusty paperclip to remove the metal. Not that hard.

That is if the axles don't snap when you drive. The CRV is really a FWD car with a bigger body on it. The rear axle is not the main drive axle. It is used when the car computer thinks it needs it. The economy going down stopped many people from spending their money on unnecessary things. That is a good thing. The old saying "He/She who dies with the most toys wins" is wrong. If you are a billionaire, go ahead and spend. You can afford it. The regular people need to spend on things they need. Then with what is left over (if there is anything left over) buy the fun things. Being frugal sucks. But you have to be that way sometimes.

Will all the companies that make the drugs charge less?

Also, all these extra benefits to people are going to do more harm then good. If someone has to do nothing to get a roof over their head, they get good health care for free, they get paid to stay at home, where is the incentive to better them selves? There is none. They can sit at home with their hand out and the checks arrive.

If you didn't notice, those who are not billionaires but make a good income (in the $300,000 - $1,000,000 range), will be getting a major tax increase. For some reason congress is exempt. I have yet to see congress vote in favor of increasing taxes they alone have to pay.

So for most of the US (those making less then $70k a year) the taxes paid will go up a little. The almost millionaires will be paying a huge increase. The already millionaires and up not much has changed.

Google the new tax code and the proposed tax changes for tax year 2009, 2010. Someone has to pay for all these changes.

I call BS on your USB drive story. I tried 4 different USB drives. 3 Flash (4GB, 16GB, 32GB) and an external hard drive (500 GB). Deleted 4 folders with 5K+ files 3.2GB in size. The longest delete time was the 32GB flash drive with 12 minutes. This was on vista which according to your story I should not expect the delete to end till Monday.

Maybe your USB port was breaking. That happens. Was it a USB hub that had a bad cable or it was breaking? Something sounds totally wrong.

I did not go into each folder and select all the files. I selected the folders and hit the delete key. Said yes and let it do it's thing. The ETA was totally off. I have never trusted the time estimates on windows. I remember watching the progress bar on an install (this was along time ago) go from start to finish 11 times for the one step. If you are arguing that the windows time estimates are off. Then yes they are, they have been for years. Why microsoft doesn't fix this is anyone's guess. They don't care? It is not a high priority issue? Whatever the case may be it looks like the time ETA on file copies/deletes is not something microsoft is working to address.

Did you ever let the file delete finish? I have often seen file copies start off in times of months and finish in a few hours. This is when I am copying a few hundred gig of files. It would be nice, but I do not expect to copy 700GB of files in a few minutes. Going from local hard drive across the network to the other local hard drive takes some time.

I think Dell screwed up with the minis they have. The mini 9 is good. Too bad now the biggest HD is a 16 GB SSD. The mini 10s and 12s can have 1GB RAM max. Their new latitude 2100 can have 2GB of memory just remember to get the CPU with the 1GB on board first. Else you can have 1.5 GB RAM.

The mini 9 is the only mini model where the RAM is totally separate from the CPU. The others have a card with the CPU and RAM on it. That RAM is soldered in and cannot be changed (unless you can solder the RAM chips yourself). The mini 10 with the 1024X768 screen would be great if I could get it to have 2GB of RAM.

1 GB of RAM should be enough. I have the mini 9. It runs a lot better with 2GB of memory in it. That is with the Ubuntu it came with, Ubuntu Remix, XP pro, OSX, and win 7. I did get mine with the 32 GB SSD HD. Which I dot see as an option anymore from Dell. Runcore makes a 32 and 64 GB SSD for the mini 9. Remember the mini 9 has a smaller then usual pci-e SSD card HD. Unless you plan on modding the case, you need to get that smaller pci-e SSD card.

BTW anyone else try Ubuntu remix yet? It looks like it would be great on a touchscreen netbook\notebook. I don't feel like modding the mini 9 to use a touch screen. Maybe after the warrantee is up.

I would say it matters on two things. First the quality of the CD-R. The 5 cent ones may not last as long as the 25 cent ones (price per 100 spindle). Second how you store the CD-R. If you leave the disk loose in a drawer with a bunch of other disks and papers it may not last that long. if you store it in an actual CD case or CD binder it should last longer. Also with storing the CDs. Leaving them in an outside shed is a bad idea. Temperature extremes are no good. Indoors should be fine if you use heat and AC during the year.
