No, it is great for fishermen. Just not commercial fisherman.
Who is hurting the fish populations more? The guy going out with his buddies can catch 20-25 fish per day when they can get out or the commercial fisherman who goes out and catches 30 tons of fish per day 6 days a week excluding hurricanes?
So who is this targetted at? And why does the person who submitted the story think this will shortly be one of the most awesome dive sites? It's either going to be very expensive, or there's some contradictions in the story:
Officials in the Florida Keys expect it to pay dividends, up to $8 million in annual tourism-related revenue, mostly from divers flocking to get a look at the underwater spectacle.
[...]
The idea is to not only to attract tourists, but to help protect the Keys' natural reefs, already suffering from excessive diving, snorkeling and fishing along with warming ocean temperatures.
I have over 300 yards (over 900 feet) of line on my fishing reel. Getting down to the wreak is not an issue. My need to use 10-14 oz though. This will be a great fishing spot in a few years. Not just for the fish right on/around the wreak. People will be trolling (not the slashdot kind) over and around the wreak as well for fish.
This assumes that you have the skills to correct the problem yourself. Otherwise you are still waiting for someone somewhere to fix the problem.
The choice is either pay for support to someone (either microsoft or redhat/IBM/other *nix vendor) or you get the software (open source or you buy it) and hope you do not have an issue. Many people think that if they pay for software they will get support from the vendor. This may or may not be true, depends on the software. With open source most people think that you are on your own. You cannot dial a phone number and get help.
Many have bought software and not had an issue. The same is true with open source software. It is the individual accounts of problems that skew one's opinion.
To sum it up: we should always look at as many options as possible. Then pick the best tool for the job at hand.
If the gulf stream was to just stop, the NE US would lose the moderation the ocean does. As the ocean water gets cooler and cooler, the temps will go down. The Europe really gets screwed. As this ocean current affects it a lot more.
Many new motherboards sold today still have a floppy cable header on them. The floppy is there to be used on PC's if you have need of it.
The only need I can think of now a days is loading drivers at install time for XP/server 2003. They required drivers (disk controller, RAID controller, etc.) to be loaded at install time. Pokie MS finally changed the setup in vista (need to check 7) to allow loading drivers from a USB stick or even CD/DVD during setup.
Floppies are now dated and sometimes too small to hold the driver in question. Which really ticked me off when the RAID controller driver was 3MB in size and the OS would only load it off a floppy. We did have one of those super drives that had a 120MB 'floppy'. The computer took that drive as a floppy drive. The ZIP drive was not a floppy for setup.
Judiciary branch decides if the laws are legal or not.
Executive branch enforces the laws.
The president may sign a bill into law but the executive branch doe not approve the laws. Remember that the legislative branch can over-ride a veto (didn't sign the bill in to law).
More like $290 then $320 for ultimate. So your 75% figure still stands though. Personally I think the OS should be $50-$100. $50 for the basic version to $100 for the every feature version.
Most here will say software should be free and all we pay for is hardware. To each their own.
If, because of their prior tax evasion, they were prevented from doing business in the United States, then let them move to Madrid and go broke. Who cares? Seems to me that would be a perfectly reasonable solution.
Never going to happen. Imagine the like of IBM, HP, Apple, Ford, GM (if GM lives), the fortune 100 companies, even the fortune 500 companies, all prevented from doing business in the USA.
Those companies will not go broke. They will taken in less but they will survive. The USA however will be a different story. Without those companies, the USA will be broken financially in a matter of weeks/months.
If that was to happen, the USA would no longer be the USA. It would most likely be new provinces of China since they are the biggest creditor to the USA.
Our old dog helped himself to what ever food he could get. We fed him dog food, but he would eat cat food, fish food (this never filled him up though), and always felt that he should eat when ever and what ever a person was eating. Which was funny when someone was eating on TV. He would start begging us to feed him since someone was eating (on TV). The dog learned to open the fridge which was a very bad thing. We wondered where the food was going until we found where he was hiding the empty plastic bags and wraps.
This is not a joke. The dog was an 85 pound 1-2% body fat giant dalmatian. He was totally deaf which is why is watched TV and was very visual. During dog shows he would wine to play with the dogs he saw on TV. When the dogs would 'walk' off the screen to one side, he would get up and look behind the TV for that dog. It was so funny.
p.s. He was a rescue we didn't go to a breeder to get him. He was scheduled for termination the very next day if we didn't pick him up.
So instead everyone pay a bigger tax to cover the cost of this universal health care. Everyone is paying a high amount, well not everyone, only those who are actually working. So those who are not working or make very little do not pay at all.
This is a terrible idea. There is no incentive for people to better themselves. If you get free health care, free food, free housing, free... you have no (or very little) desire to go out and better yourself.
What about the people who are healthy? They will be paying a huge amount of money for a doctor to tell them that they are fine. I have received two shots in 18 years. No pills, no x rays, nothing more from the doctor. Yet I have been paying every paycheck for what exactly?.
The insurance companies are raping everyone. But they are raping everyone in response to all the law suites. Stop all the bs law suites and the insurance rates will not be so high. IF the doctor operates on the wrong leg, you have a right to go after the doctor. If you lie to the doctor and based off of what you told the doctor, the doctor prescribes the wrong thing, that should be on you NOT your doctor. There are many other examples of law suites happening for wrong reasons, but in the sue happy environment, doctors and running scared.
And that point will be when what is displayed on the screen looks real. Until then let the GPU people make better and better stuff to get to that point.
I have used both ATI and Nvidia cards over the years. The cards worked for what I was doing. It was strange to see the same image look different depending on the card used*. But that is why there are options. If you like the look of ATI, pick ATI. If you like the look of Nvidia, pick Nvidia. Read the reviews, and if possible actually see how the card you are looking at displays the stuff you want.
*An old example was doom 2. The color of the text and graphics were different depending on the card you used. One the yellows would be yellow. On an other they were more gold or darker.
Apple has a monopoly on music players with the ipod/iphone/ipod touch just as microsoft has a monopoly on operating systems. There are other music players out there, but what does the average joe now think of when you say MP3 player? An ipod. There are a hell of a lot of other music players out there, but ipod is the most popular in people's minds. The same can be said for operating systems. There are other operating systems besides windows. What is the most popular in the average joe's mind? windows.
I'll be -99999 in no time for this but that is what I think and what I see.
On a side note I but rockbox on my ipod and now I use the ipod a lot more. It is much easier to add songs by simply coping them to the device rather then adding them into itunes then syncing the device. Making a play list is a little clunky, I just make a folder with the songs I want for a play list. Then copy the folder to the device. Not needing itunes to add songs is much nicer.

My supposed to be may.
I hate Mondays. Especially when they happen to be Tuesdays.

So you are getting a mac then?
Yes. Barring someone finding the fountain of youth or the golden apple that makes one immortal. We are all going to die, one day.

wait.... keeping duct tape, electrical tape, and wire ties in your car is a bad thing?!
I'll be back. I have to empty my car of those and the screw drivers.
You forgot the chain saw attached to one arm... Oh wait different movie.

And people wonder why I put tape/post it notes over those built in cameras in laptops before I turn them on.
I usually tell people I do not want anyone to go blind if they see a picture of me.
And they will do it for free. No $1,000,000 needed.
No. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116473

OK build it myself and 'sell' it for a case of beer to a friend. The PC was 'sold' to a different party...
Their are other forms of payment available. Some may not be legal where you live. But they sure are fun.
Vista sells for $180 or just under on newegg. That is an OEM single computer. The retail is $290. Either way not $400.
Not to defend too much but maybe they were thinking of microsoft office? The full retail versions of office (no discounts) are like $350-$400.
Office, microsoft's cash cow. Mooooo
Really? Lets test that. Ebola I have someone I want you to meet....

It might as well say "Just Kill Yourself" or alternatively "Have you ever seen a girl naked?"
Shouldn't that be "seen a girl naked in real life not on a TV or monitor". Or "seen and touched a naked girl"?
Let us just hope the girl is not a relative.

*cracks back* What was the question? Oh yea, yes.
"those people" hated us (any western country not just the USA) long before Bush.
