Not everyone has the room for a 52" TV. If you do good for you. In my place a 52" TV would be too big for the room. The people who are saying that they cannot see the difference on their 32"-42" TVs most likely are telling the truth. One may need the bigger screens to see the difference. Not everyone is going to go out and but a TV that is the same size as the wall.
Usually home based XP can be pro as well if you leave the welcome screen option on. Maybe both the welcome and fast user switching option. I think it only works with a microsoft based email. If you use google mail or any other web based email I am not sure the locked screen will tell you how may emails you have. It doesn't tell me for my web based email at least.
But if an app was already in place before the patent filing, that patent should be null and void. And if you are filing a patent it would be in your best interest to see if there is something already out there (a patent or an app). Also doesn't the patent office also check to see if there is a patent for what one is proposing?
This is 2008, last December would be December 2007 the IPhones were already out. Explain to me how a patent files in December 2007 could be before the IPhone came out in June(?) 2007.
Depends on place I think. I have waited 2-5 minutes at most. Usually I walk in, sign in, and go vote no waiting at all.
It takes me longer to wade through all the people outside the voting place. They are trying to get you to vote one way or another, they are not in line to vote.
I realize that people feel strongly about things, but at the voting places, DMV, and some other places I wish the political party people could be banned. All those people voicing their opinion at the DMV is really annoying. The DMV is not a place to vote at. I feel like the guy from Airplane, having to fight off all the people getting me to donate/sign/vote for their cause as I enter the place (DMV or voting place).
The voter gets a card at the voting place. The voter inserts the card into the machine. The voter votes using the electronic machine. The voter checks their vote on the electronic machine. The voter finalizes their vote on the electronic machine. Electronic machine marks the card the voter inserted earlier. The voter gets the card back and the voter checks it to make sure it has the correct vote(s) on it. The voter insert the card in the sealed box.
Electronic and a paper trail, and it places some of the responsibility on the people voting.
Wait a sec... responsible voters? That will never pass. I got nothing.
So your the one who can't keep a constant speed on the highway. You pass many people at 70 then slow down causing a backup then go fast again...
Your pulse and glide thing is OK if you are the only one on the road. It falls apart in rush hour traffic when they are hundreds (if not more) of other people on the road all not doing the same thing. I am not saying we need to have pulse zones and glide zones on the highways. That would lead to a lot more traffic accidents.
There do appear to be a lot of morons involved in this scenario, and Childs was one of them. Basically what he said was "I am smarter than all of you, so I will do things my way, and trust me, you'll be better off."
Either I have bad luck or I keep on finding people who think exactly that way. We have even had meetings where all agreed on a specific solution to the problem. Right after my boss say well we are going to do it this other way, we know better. Even if the other way was a better solution.
Some people have egos that are way too big fir their own good. I am not saying I am perfect. I use solution that I know work. If there are better ones please show me. I have no issue changing my way of doing things for a better one. I know a lot of people who will not change. Even when a better way is show to them.
When you are ordering a machine make sure you click the box that say OS install disk included. Or call and ask. I have even called after the fact (HP) and gotten a disk in the mail. It cost me a few dollars and this was after the laptop arrived.
I thought it was standard practice with an HP, Dell, [enter name here] to format and reinstall he OS minus of all the crap the OEM puts on.
When you are ordering make sure you get the driver disks, and the wanted (DVD burning, DVD playing, etc.) software disks. The OEM should give you all the disks for the software you want with the machine.
How many Apple laptops let you change the video card when ordering it? None. Mac Book Pro, Mac Book, the mini, no video choices. Screen choices (on the laptops) are there. Nothing bout the video card.
If your getting a laptop and plan on gaming on it, you better look at the video card or live/suffer with what it comes with.

Speaking of Jupiter, there are some who say that Jupiter is a failed star. It needs more mass to ignite to be a star. How much more does Jupiter need to 'suck in' to have enough mass to ignite and be our second star? If Jupiter did become a star, would be be enough to roast Earth? Or just give us a second source of daylight?
From the article: "Comcast announced it would put a 250-gigabyte-per-month bandwidth cap on residential customers. Customers may get a warning if they go over the monthly cap, and after their first warning, Comcast will suspend their service for a year if they go over the cap a second time."
Lose you internet connect for a year! I do not have HD TV but how big are those HD movies that people are downloading? How many people have more then one computer on the internet in their home? Take a family of 4 (mom, dad, two teenagers) There are at least 3 computers in the house (4 most likely). If a movie is download by each computer, 250GB will be eaten up really fast. I know people with netflix who download 5-6 HD movies a week on one computer. I think they will run out of HD movies soon, but 250GB will be eaten up fast if one is downloading HD movies.
I didn't even go to the P2P stuff. This is a move to slow down P2P. Comcast should just come out and say it (if they haven't already). Maybe Comcast should work on improving the bandwidth of it's network instead of spending the time and money on restrictions. I really feel for those who have no other choice.
Kari Byron, all Mythbusters needs. Maybe in that outfit she had on for their shark week show...
Adam Savage is funny and adds a lot of good TV for the show. Even Jamie Hyneman said so in an interview. The show would be a lot more dull without Adam. Granted this was before Kari and company were brought on.
Unless you signed a contract stating that you couldn't bring in legal services to aid you, you can. The only one stopping you is you. If you feel you were laid off for no good reason, you have every right to get a lawyer to find out why. It will cost you (unless you win and get your bill paid by the other side).
Or you can pay the union all the time. Instead of the big legal fee you pay a smaller fee the entire time you work under that union. Remember your union dues are paying those lawyers all the time, even when not in court. And when the union says that you are on strike, you got to picket getting paid a fraction of your regular salary. Even if your contract is not up. Got to support your union. See if your bills will understand that you are supporting your union and only took in $250 that week instead of your regular $1000 (that is what my brother's pay was when he was on strike)
Unions do not belong in every occupation. They were needed back in the day. Now laws exist which were why unions were needed in the first place. Do unions help some jobs? I hope so. But the need for a union is getting smaller every day. People need to realize that before the sign on the dotted line, they can 9and should) make sure they understand the contract that they are signing. They might want to change some parts of it. At a job interview, you are also interviewing the company.
I was raised with the belief that the guy had to be able to provide for his wife and children. He has to earn enough to live on. So that his wife has the choice of working or staying home. The burden is on the guy.
Many families have two working parents. I have seen many where as the children are old enough they start working and they all pool the funds to live on.
**I know I am going to be beaten down for the first part about giving women choices but that is how I was raised.
The AC is right. The insurance that doctors must pay to protect themselves in case they are sued is huge. often the insurance pays off the person rather then go to court so the doctor's rep is not tarnished. Which raises the insurance rates. These costs are passed to the doctors customers (us) and out insurance raising our rates.

Gee just like Vanilla Ice didn't rip off the music from Queen and David Bowie.
It has a little bit more so it is totally different.
That argument didn't work in the music industry. We will see how it plays out here.
Only if you buy from dell, hp, acer, etc. If you build your own machine, you do not have to pay the microsoft tax.

The voter gets a card at the voting place.
The voter inserts the card into the machine.
The voter votes using the electronic machine.
The voter checks their vote on the electronic machine.

Well, gas prices go up really fast on speculation. Or did anyone else in the US not notice how fast gas prices went up when Ike went through.
The oil/gas markets are changing more on what people think will happen then what actually does happen.

The issue is the people who would get the most out of the ideas post here are not reading Slashdot.
Or making sure the crawlers also grab the date of the article?

I just got a picture of a terrorist entering heaven and 100 male geeks are there waiting for the terrorist.

I thought that was Iran that allowed Euros to buy oil. Also that was after Iraq was invaded.
