I thought we were talking about laptop graphics not desktop graphics? What laptop can you put a 7970 into? The article is about a laptop CPU with build in graphics. Many laptop do have that today. They are not gaming laptops usually.

Intel does have some good day to day 1080P movie watching graphics. But for high end gaming? No, they are lacking. For a low power movie watching dvr, the Intel graphics do work fine. Well the 4000 series and later 3000 series anyway. Before that, no. Intel needed work. They finally got there.

Personally I prefer to have a separate video card in my home desktops. If it breaks I can change it. If the built into the motherboard video card breaks, swapping out the motherboard is harder and takes longer then changing the video card. The less down time the better. I usually have a spare video card just for that reason.

Maybe if we leave the brain stem (the part that is the life support in humans) alone and look at the 'higher' brain functions. It might hold some truth. Perhaps that is where the 10% part came from. There are many people who (at a young age) lost major parts of their brains. They lead active lives when they got older. The people who lost half of their brain are not 100%, but they can do most things just fine. The people who lost less do better. I am talking about young people here. Infants and people under the age of five. If an adult was to have 1/2 their brain removed, they be screwed (not in the fun way). The human brain changes over time. In the young, the brain can re-route things. In the old that does not happen. If we could figure out how and why the young brain can re-route things, we might be able to help older people with brain injuries or illness.

It is usually the cities that make it vote Democratic. The rest of the state votes Republican but the greater number of votes (or more greater weighted votes) from the cities carry the state. In many states all you have to do is win these counties to carry the state. Even if you lose all the other counties. Even if the number of 'lost' counties is greater then the number of 'won' counties. Politics and voting are strange.

Climate change has been going on for millions of years. Think about it. There were higher temperatures during the time of the dinosaurs. That predated humans and their SUVs by a lot of years. Was the Earth itself hotter then? Was the Sun putting out more heat then? What could it be? Were their other elements in the air that also made it hotter? Could the way the planet looked affected the temperature of the planet? Was their higher levels volcanism back then? The history of this planet has been swinging from hots time to cold times through much of it's history.

For much of human history the Earth has been relativity cool. It has been getting warmer. Does that mean in 5-10 years we will have the same temperature as 65 million years ago? Most likely not. Could we get there at some point? Nothing says that it couldn't happen. In the dinosaur time there was a lot of plant life. There had to be higher amounts of CO2 in the air back then too. If we release all the CO2 back into the air that was locked away in the dinosaur time it should change the climate according to the studies. Most of the studies leave out two other factors. The Earth itself is cooling over time. We have no idea if the Sun's output was the same back then as now. We do know the Sun does have changes in it's output. To totally blame humans for the temperature of this planet is wrong.

Apple is a pain in the ass when it come to their stuff breaking. They have their own tools and tests that they run. For example: we have an iMac with bad memory. Memtest shows errors every time. We bring the under warrantee iMac to Apple to replace the memory. The Imac is fired up at teh Apple store. It fails to boot and only beeps. It is the memory beep according to the 4 Apple store people. A few more boot attempts, the iMac boots but has trouble booting from their USB drive. They take the Imac to run their memory tests on the iMac. A few days later they tell us the Imac is repaired. What was done? Nothing. They found nothing wrong. We take the Imac back. It has the same errors as before. Again, memtest shows errors. This time we just replace the memory ourselves. Now there is no issue. If Apple had used memtest they would have seen the errors. They have to use Apple approved tests. There are free tests for memory and other things that can be used. We can prove that the memory has bad sectors. According to Apple, that doesn't matter since their tests says otherwise. I did ask for a printout, screen shot, something of the test. They could not provide that. They also said that we could not run the test ourselves. When the other Imacs showed signs of the same problem (all bought at the same time). We ran memtest, again bad memory. We just replaced it rather then going to Apple. No need for the longer down time and the headache from the Apple repair people.
