I've never thought that the track tests were especially biased (sometimes they have mentioned waiting for more favourable weather if they have a car that really has a chance of being up at the very top of the leaderboard, which would usually have far too much torque to be able to race well in the rain). Reviews, of course, how could any review be unbiased? But as for putting the same pro race driver in each car each week and sending him round the same track*, it doesn't seem that biased to me..?

    * which admittedly has varying weather conditions, but they can't do much about that, and do note down if it's wet or especially hot for example.

Just watched it again, and it would be perfectly fine of them to pretend that it ran out of fuel to talk about charging it.

They also claim the motor overheated, which I didn't find hard to believe as I have an electric scooter which often does the same thing, but if they were just pretending when in fact the Tesla was fine even with crazy track driving, then they were being douches..

Their other claim was that the "brakes broke" on one of the cars. I'm not entirely sure about braking systems on electric vehicles, I would have thought it was mostly done with the motor, but maybe there are more conventional brakes in case of power failure that somehow locked up or something?

Overall the review seems very positive and wouldn't actually stop me buying one if I were someone who could afford it and wanted one.

Sure most of my Facebook friends are people I would never bother to talk to otherwise, but occasionally there is something worth "liking" or chiming in on. Also, it is great for organising stuff with everyday friends, or getting to know new people better. I prefer to go through my initial awkward/quiet phase with new people online, where I can get comfortable knowing that people actually are speaking to me because they want to, rather than just because we happen to be in the same physical location. Previously I used MSN for that, now it's generally Facebook.

People (and most importantly, women!) get to like me a lot faster when I get a chance to speak to them online rather than just in real life. I'm generally quite quiet with new people until I feel comfortable around them, and a lot of people take that to mean that I just don't want to speak to them, when in fact I'm just not sure if they actually want me speaking to them. Online, especially in non realtime chats, it's really easy to blow someone off - so if someone is speaking to you, you know they actually want to.

There's nothing inherently "more" fattening about dough than meat

Actually, there is. White flour has a very high glycemic index, meaning your body can digest it and turn it into blood sugar much faster than you can use it. In that case, your body has nothing to do but raise your insulin levels and store the energy as fat. Carbs with a lot of fiber digest slower, protein and fat digest more slowly, and therefore these things all work better for raising your blood sugar enough to make you feel good, but not quite so far that you are assured to go into fat storage mode.

I'm sorry, but this is the dangerous diet hoodoo that makes people stupid. 1 tbsp of mayonnaise = 90 calories of empty fat.

What is "empty" about fat. Fat is a very necessary part of your diet. Far more necessary than empty sugar or white flour for example. People are starting to talk about "good" fat these days, when the only type of fat that has clinically proven to be dangerous are trans-fats (ie certain fats, like the type you get in margarine, turn very easily into trans fats when frying and this is definitely bad).

Eat as much as you want is a good way to do it. My flatmate has gone full atkins recently, and what he wants is often very little since protein and fat are so filling. Empty carbs make you crash and leave you craving more, but protein and fat are satisfying.

It is a bit of a paradox, but whenever I do think "okay I'll eat this white flour based product, how bad can it be?" I end up getting very sleepy (basically hypoglycemic) a few hours later. It passes after maybe 30 minutes, but it's very unpleasant. Now I don't think it affects most people quite as bad as me, but it does to an extent. Oftentimes I reckon when people are "tired" in the evening, it's actually a sugar crash.

Controlling calories is of course important, and eating a lot of fat at one time while also being sedentary can be as bad as eating sugar for storing fat, but different foods are treated differently by the body. Fat is much more likely to just pass through your body if you don't actually need it, whereas sugar is so easy to absorb that you will pretty much always absorb it. I definitely agree that the less you mess with your food before eating it, the better. We didn't evolve to handle all the crap that people constantly pump themselves with to try to make themselves feel better (while at the same time making themselves feel worse overall.. pretty much the same kind of thing as being addicted to caffeine).

I was starting to get slightly lumpy by the time I hit 25 (I'm tall so it's harder to notice), but I tried various things and when I read about the Atkins diet and ended up eating "low GI" food, I've been in great shape, and more importantly, I feel a lot better.

I'd eat a 12" pizza for one meal if it had a wholemeal base.

Chinese stir-fry is perfectly healthy, if you make it yourself at least and have wholemeal noodles or brown rice instead of normal noodles/white rice. Stuff like steamed dumplings would be fattening (because of the dough, not the meat), but it's okay to have that kind of thing every now and then.

Smoothies with oats in them are amazing btw :) As for dressing-less salad, why? Put as much mayonnaise and dressing on it as you want, you're not going to get fat. However, you only need a bit if you don't want to feel like you're eating a bowl of condiments.

I dislike 3D because they charge extra for the tickets, yet a few minutes into the film I tend to forget it's even in 3D apart from on the odd "wave something toward the camera" moment.

I think 3D gaming on a proper home theater setup could be pretty cool (though I haven't tried it yet so I don't know how good it would be), but these days I kind of cringe when I hear an ad mentioning that a movie will be 3D. It should be irrelevant, yet it usually makes me think the movie will be some half-assed rush job with too much focus on waving things at the camera..

You mean like the moon? Or an orbiting spacecraft or satellite?

Okay, I just looked it up and the Sun actually has twice the pull of gravity on the Moon than the Earth does, I really didn't expect that. Is it wrong that I always think of "space wars" when I think about gravity?

Hmm, okay, thanks. In the analogy the "just letting go" would be equivalent of sending the pebble off in the same direction the earth was moving at that point, but with a much larger velocity, so it was a pretty stupid analogy... and presumably firing perpendicular to our own velocity, away from the sun, would be a better idea.
