Oh that's what I was doing, but I accidentally built a Slashdot client into the network driver, that's what happens when the source text file gets too complicated.
For handheld consoles I can see it being true, but just saying "software market" is too ambiguous even in an article about game piracy.
I didn't know that Japan had twice the population of the UK (where I am) until right now, that is interesting and makes the 25% figure seem somewhat less ludicrous when just talking about the handheld games market.
Great example: today I discovered that there's a free app for Windows Mobile to turn your phone into a WiFi hotspot. I don't see Apple allowing this anytime soon.
They don't allow customers to upgrade storage of their devices with SD cards so that they can charge ridiculous amounts for higher capacity models. And they don't even allow you to use the phone as a general purpose storage device. I still have never owned an iPod/iPhone, nor do I really want to, but I'm seriously considering it simply because things like modern car stereos are designed to work so much better with iPods than with simple storage devices:/
To me even my HTC TyTN (~6 years ago) was better than any iPhone before, simply because it had a hardware keyboard. And since then the iPhone has pretty much always been behind HTC's flagship phones (I don't really keep current either, but any time I've checked there have always been much cooler devices out there than the iPhone).
I'm really glad that the iPhone came out though, as it's forced other manufacturers to get their act together when it comes to the actual software side of things. But now that everything else is doing multitouch swishy touch feely zoom zoom, the iPhone doesn't have any real advantage beyond Steve Jobs' marketing prowess IMO..
Serious question: if you're just going to use Android on it, why bother at all? Why not just get an HTC device instead? They have the same mahusive screens and capacitive touch capabilities, and if things are still like they were back when I actually gave a crap about phone specs, they will have better specs than the iPhone for less money.
Just as I'd suspect anyone from another country would prefer their country to be the country of assembly for their next gadget.
Not really.. I like cheap things. I'd be pretty happy to pay an extra 10% on gadgets if I knew the workers were getting fair wages, but if stuff was being made here in the UK then it probably would be even more expensive. Especially at first since we're not geared up to produce lots of gadgets.
Yep this is no different to any of the other super-drinks marketed in the west, high in anti-oxidants and all that crap. There's plenty of "anti-ageing" creams here in the UK, basically just anything that blocks UV rays can be marketed as anti-aging.
In high school, he balanced computers, basketball and a romance with Brenda, a cheerleader with a gorgeous singing voice. He studied too, with focus, uninterrupted by e-mail. “I did my homework because I needed to get it done,” he said. “I didn’t have anything else to do.”
As long as that is in addition to drawing power from normal pedalling - otherwise when you're out on the open road cycling for miles with no need of braking, you're going to have no power. Then you have to consider the extra weight of a regenerative braking system and a battery..
Yeah.. murderers shouldn't ever be punished.. just think of all the moments of their life that they spent not murdering anyone! It's got to be at least 99.9999%. That's good enough for me!
If you think the same thing about the UK then I can safely tell you that you're just reading things wrong. I appreciate certain aspects of America, but there are lots of things about it that I dislike too.
I'd like to hear an example of how you think another country is trying to "be American". I'm not saying it isn't possible, but at the same time I think it's dumb to act as if because a nation adopts one aspect of American culture - let's say "fast food" - that they are trying to be America. It is natural for humans to copy other ideas that they see as beneficial. You might as well say anyone that eats a pizza is trying to be Italian, or that anyone who drinks tea wants to be Chinese.
In this case, and probably most cases when people come out with that phrase, they don't say it as if it's a bad thing that they're different from the US.
It's the US that's pushing for everyone else to be like them (one obvious example would be in the field of copyright law), not the other way round.

Instead of manually entering your scripts, menu items, stylesheets, and commands in a complicated text file
Comedy gold :)
Like this?
Mcfryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! YOU'RE FIRED!!!!
Oh wait, that guy was Japanese. Never mind.
First I escaped Slashdot Addiction Camp, and now this! What a perfect day.
I dunno, there's plenty of fat bastards around here.

Also, I'd like to know why they are "presuming that Japan makes up 25 percent of the world's software market"? To me that seems rather ludicrous.

-before* (I know that the iPhone wasn't even out back then, I had originally said "before the iPhone came out")

From what I've seen over the years, Blackberrys have always had realy shitty interfaces.

Most people seem to think that "regularly" means "often".

offtopic is about the most retarded mod that could have had (for anyone that read the title anyway)
I mean, first post!
My favourite paragraph:
In high school, he balanced computers, basketball and a romance with Brenda, a cheerleader with a gorgeous singing voice. He studied too, with focus, uninterrupted by e-mail. “I did my homework because I needed to get it done,” he said. “I didn’t have anything else to do.”
Huh? Poor show, Brenda!
I really doubt they're going to provide enough power even for an LED headlight, especially when the soles are not in contact with a cold surface.
And then the frigidity of her response helps to create the thermal difference required for charging your phone? Good idea!

No, no, no! I use Bebo for finding 14 year old girls - Slashdot is where I come for my fix of GNAA news.
