Google usage is more prevalent in certain global markets than others. Two particular markets stand apart from the rest in terms of their dependence on Google: Brazil and India. In July, 29.8 percent of total time spent online in Brazil was spent on Google Sites, with India only slightly lower at 28.9 percent. The next highest global market was Ireland at 15.9 percent.

I suspect that in Brazil one of these major "Google sites" is Orkut, and it is probably possible to target Orkut users just as effectively as normal Google search users, or combine the data on both (since the accounts are linked) to have some well targeted ads.

I don't think that makes any sense, and your "arguments" are not actually arguments.. there is very little that you can do in Linux that you cannot also do in Windows or Mac OS if you know what you're doing. Certainly greater than 99.9999% of computer users will never even write their own drivers, let alone go deeper than that. Google and Facebook are both quite empowering services in their own way.. and as long as there are alternatives out there, then they do not actually take away any power or choice from the end user.

Users are empowered by the applications that they can run, not by understanding how they work. I don't need to blueprint my car's engine to be able to get to work in the morning.

I've never really enjoyed the Unreal style of "shoot your enemies a million times" compared to games where one or two decent hits will kill (not counting stuff like the Sniper rifle in Unreal). This discussion actually made me look into the subject and I've just ordered a Fragnstein, looks like a decent option and it should work with any of my FPS games :)

If your plan is to get to cover rather than kill the enemies, probably the door.. in this situation, mouse = good, keyboard = not quite so good (as an analog stick). I basically vowed years ago that I'd never play FPSes on a console, but it isn't so bad when you get used to it, and as long as you know everybody else is limited in the same way. Still, I'd like to be able to play most games with a mouse for aiming and a pad for other controls - and in fact you could do this with Quake 2 on the PS1. I wonder if any of my current PS3 FPSes support mouse aiming...

Take the Brutal Legend demo for example. What seems from the demo like God of War-esque with driving sequences, is actually a semi-RTS with a large mostly empty "sandbox" overworld.

Yeah that was one of the worst demos I've played for a while.. it made me wait til the price came down to £15 (games here start at about £40) before I bought it.. and then the game turned out to be way more fun than the demo due to the sandbox style, which I love. I pretty much never read previews or reviews of games these days, but I do sometimes check the PS Store and occasionally try interesting looking demos. I would not be trying these if I had to pay for them. What a joke.. for example Just Cause 2 is way more fun than the blurb on the store made it sound and I pre-ordered it immediately at full price after trying the demo.

I did wonder if the initial refund story was a hoax even before I got this reply, and I'm not sure if it's worth pursuing it any further. They also gave me Sony's number and a link to one of their websites, but I suspect Sony will be even less helpful.
