As the robot is not intelligent enough - or isn't considered as such - to make the decision of opening fire I personally don't think this breaks Asimov's law. This robots are more like 'extensions' to a soldier's body, IMHO.
I guess that if we are to consider this a violation of Asimov's laws the computers of guided missiles have been ilegally killing people for a long time.
Yeah, they listen to the music playing inside your house. Say you are hearing the latest hit from Britney Spears but the RIAA has no record of you buying it, well they turn the 'volume' to 11 on their microwave emitter and fry your balls, burn your house and kill your dog. Justice has been served, right?
Well... a friend had a portable DVD player with goggles, and after 45 minutes all I had left was a headache. As far as gloves go, unless they give me the 'feel' of typing on a keyboard I would guess they'll be uncomfortable to use.
I do agree that companies should find ways to incorporate 'bigger' displays without the need to carry something big and heavy.
Well, it's not just electronics. If you want to go the 'high efficiency' world route you would have to forgo many things, including reading/. So, instead of burning all that coal even with a 250MHz Centrino loaded with Knopixx, you could try talking to someone that is, oh gasp!, physically close to you. Maybe have a club of friends that 'car pools' to a bar where each one presents a topic, and all mod each other's comments.
Then we should hunt down trolls, they are just too expensive (energy and time wise) =D
A 'high efficiency' world would be a bitch. I don't think *I* could justify my existence and my work;-) OTOH, I believe oil is too precious to just burn it with V12 engines.
I would say: - Small, but not stupidly that I cannot use the keys - Wouldn't care if it had java or games, but would ask for a LOGICAL and USEFUL way of navigating options (I hate my Motorola C350) - Though? It better not use iPod nano materials;-)
Are RFIDs always unique? Do they identify a particular product or a particular ITEM? Or are they 'unique' only in batches? If they are not unique to a particular shoe box there's no difference to the current situation if you use a store's fidelity card or pay by credit card. So don't be paranoid about the future and be paranoid NOW. Or like me, pay cash and go on with your life.
Now, I see interesting uses for RFIDs implanted on/. trolls =D Computers could be programmed to zap with 10kV those bastard's genitals anytime they go near a PC, or when they post here.
1. For every pair of lips in my family, lest they sue them for whistling a RIAA-owned tune. 2. For every shower in my house, as my wife sings when talking a shower. 3. For every pair of ears, lest I walk past a friends listening to his collection of MP3s that I haven't paid to listen. 4. I will send 10 euro for each MP3 in my iPod that I ripped from my brother-in-law's CD collection. 5. Whenever I hear/shout 'f$ck U greedy son of a gun!", because that should only be directed to RIAA members.
Steve Jobs said flash-based players were CRAP right until he unveiled Apple's flash-iPod. So Sergey can keep on shouting: "we ain't doing it!" all the way to hell, but if someone can develop a Web-based solution for working with documents, that is Google. And I do believe that there must be better ways of creating stuff than with de MS Office paradigm.
I have not seen robots managing with ease and RELIABILITY even mildly unstructured portions of the world. I wouldn't trust a 3 ton vehicle to the Mars Pathfinder's 'brains', for example. Also, there are cost issues. Manned supply lines could be safer if you invested money (armour, more soldiers, aerial support, etc.), and maybe it is less than the cost of having an autonomous fleet of vehicles that will not be 'fool' proof.
I really want the source code for the IA software that 'invents' this names for Linux distributions and every little piece of OS/GNU/libre software out there. What comes next?
- RTFA, an 'HTML' editor? - CowboyNeat, a file duplicator? - IMHO, a trolling tool for/. posters?
Just in case some OSS developer reads this post, use the following names for your next text editor: Tlaloc, Escuintle, Vivanderix or Parangaracutirimicuaro. Highly descriptive names, right?
Well, maybe the links do NOT provide confirmation of the GoogleOffice BETA, but I really hope it is true. If they get enough people out of the MS Office Universe (more like a black hole really) MAYBE we'll get fully working interoperability. I for one do not like Word, but I need it to open the hundreds of documents people produce with it each day, from coworkers to the government (I hate it when public institutions -force- me to use MS Office products) because they use the f*ing features that OSS suites can not handle.
It really astounds me how life 'finds' a way to every possible surface/hole/place in this planet. As for Mars or any other planet, it's great if they find life... but I'm really only interested in 'big' animals, plants or 'sentient' beings. Bacteria/whatever is interesting, but I'm not of the camp of "life is exclusive to Earth", so I take life on other planets of the Universe "for granted".
You can watch the video or listen to audio track. Also check out the media page for more conference coverage or I could just NOT RTFA and spurt opinions. I prefer the true./ way.

Some video cards support rotation, and OSX 10.4 can use this feature:2 291

I hope in 5 or 6 years time the Windows anniversary will be about "the year MS lost its monopoly".

5. Call MS representative and shout: GO F$CK YOURSELF, you greedy son of a...!!
6. PROFIT!!!
7. Contribute money/resources to the OSS community.
