Pretty sure on the list of 'Things not to do if you like your job', admitting you're inspired by the competition and complimenting their design TO THE PRESS has got to be in the top 3.
It's not their job to be fair. It's their job to get you to say something incriminating. Functionally, it's the cops' job to "aid and abet" the prosecutors' office in getting innocent people convicted.
Anyone who says different, is a clueless idealistic moron. You have the 5th amendment right to keep your mouth shut for a reason: NEVER say anything to the cops.
Just last week, I had my trial before a judge for a very borderline DWI where I had blown a.08. To describe the background, after being arrested and being brought to the station, over one year ago, the officers asked if I would agree to answer questions. I told them I would not do so without an attorney present. They asked two more times, and made it sound as if I was about to get in huge trouble if I had the audacity to invoke my rights. I denied to answer questions each of those times. What is interesting is that the fact I was alert enough to both understand my rights, and to practice them, was the final straw and indicator to the judge that I was not both physically and mentally impaired. I was found not guilty.
It's a "yes it's media" or "no it's not someone is just trying to get a cheaper rate"
See, I had thought about it this way, particularly because of BenBoys post above, and it occurs to me that people attempting to get that cheaper rate must be mailing a sizeable amount of packages. The price difference is trivial in my experience (but I rarely send anything more than 1 to 3 packages per visit) and they would need to seriously not care about it poking along for what, 14 days to get to the destination?
So how is it any different if I give an envelope to a USPS employee? It's no longer under my control, but I expect it to be private.
I'm not sure about other types of mail, but media mail can be searched at any time, by any postal employee. The sign at my post office states this to be a fact, but I can't find the specifics on their website to give a link here.
This is a very familiar story, that we have seen play out with Greenlight in Wilson NC.
FTTP, up to 100 symmetric bandwidth, and the telecoms threw a freaking fit, and did their best to annihilate municipal broadband, and failed to stop it.
To control who can post in your group, please follow these steps:
1. Click on the "Group settings" link on your group's homepage.
2. Select the "Access" tab.
3. Choose an option under "Who can post messages?" and click "Save Changes."
If you choose "Managers only," owners and managers will be the only ones able to post messages to the whole group. If you choose "Members only," your members will be able to post, but non-members will not. The "Anyone can post" option allows all Google Groups users to post in your group.
Also, you may want to consider the option "All posts are held for moderation" if you wish to review messages before they're posted to your group. This option is located toward the bottom of the page, in the "Message moderation" section.
For the safety of your group, only members have the options of uploading files, and creating and editing pages. It's up to you whether you'd like to also restrict these actions to moderators only.
Not sure if that helps for the spoof aspect of the declared problem. May be. Maybe not. I've never ran a Google group.

and pushed DRM off the table (aided greatly by Amazon)
I don't know the overall metrics on this, but DRM was the very reason I abandoned iTunes and began purchasing my digital music at Amazon. Now, I notice that a downloaded MP3 file from Amazon will have an Amazon "song id#" embedded in the id3 data, and I cannot help but wonder if iTunes makes note of that when it scans my music library.
Unless you created the hardware, firmware, or software, I will not allow you to control the ports on a device I purchased.

You mean like Bill himself has done?
That hit me where the pun don't shine. Ouch.
*sigh* And I still recall when I thought having a plastic gun for Duck Hunt was cutting edge.
Anyone run into these or have any recommendations of good detection software?
Rootkit Hunter
Florida is one of 50 states yet hands out 15% of all traffic tickets.
Out of curiosity, is this the highest percentage in the US by any one state?
and I've been on Eclipse since I started doing real projects.
And the dogma wars begin. I would mod you flamebait if I had points left for the day.
Now the distracted drivers can have their twitter/text/calls/lipstick/ etc and not get pulled over for it.
Mostly because while they had no personal info leaks in past
Well, none that we know about.
I didn't realise my Youtube account was sharing my name (username), age and gender publicly.
I discovered I am a female on my youtube acct. No wonder I get so many personal messages from guys.
And that's a great example of why you should never talk to the cops. EVER.

And if you can do that, access control is moot.
Arg. I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
I lost 8 pounds in the first four days.
Perhaps I will go out and try to get this flu. I could use to drop about 15-20 lbs
Agreed - ban encryption.
Anyone using encryption must have something to hide.
then they need to require that you actually log in before posting.
That is really up to the group administrator.

I can't marry my dog, what's your point?
Same sex marriage is not comparable to marrying your dog. Please troll in a less obvious manner.
