    I only saw a single trailer for AOTC in the last few months. I saw dozens of Spiderman trailers. As far as I can tell, Spiderman was the one that was being promoted and hyped. I thought it was an alright movie, but I liked AOTC better. I'll probably see AOTC again, while I highly doubt I'll see Spiderman again.

    Coming into this, I had seen the previous Star Wars movies, but my only knowledge of Spiderman was that he was some guy bitten by a spider, and turned into a freak, so that influenced me I'm sure.

    to not use javascript. That is the first thing I disable in any browser I use, with activex/java being the second.

    Really, it's so much more secure without all that crap active, that I don't know why any half way security concious person would do anything else.

    If they have a valid search warrant, why not give them the data? If someone who is a suspect for a crime has been buying books on how to perpetrate that crime, then why not turn over the records?

    Compaq has been saying that the next Alpha release will be the last ever since they bought out DEC. Now while it's true that they sold much of the Alpha group to Intel, I think they'll keep releasing Alphas using the EV7 bus for some time. While it may be true that the EV7 is the last Alpha chip we'll see, I highly doubt that this new release is the last Alpha Compaq will release.

    He has some very funny and witty replies, and several caused me to laugh fairly loudly, causing my cube mates to give me the evil eye.

    But unfortunately, I think he's wasting his time on these spammers, as most of them don't/can't appreciate what he's doing. All they see is that someone replied, but not with money, so they ignore it. I noticed that the one guy selling bulk-steel replied, but he seemed to be one of the few.

    Still, great job Jonathon, you definitely lightened up my day.

    He said immune to the majority, not immune period. You are absolutely correct that there are lots of mac viruses out there. However, the vast majority are for windows on the intel platform.

    Aren't both of these companies based out of the UK? Weren't all the alleged crimes commited in the UK? So why are they filing in California? My only guess is that Vivendi has a loyal judge there, and so is trying to make the case winable by using that judge for the case.

    It can be pretty handy to resolve irq conflicts, and you tell tell your OS what irqs to give to each piece of hardware. Yes, some pieces of hardware don't handle sharing very well, but if your hardware is that old, it's time to upgrade anyways.

    And if your OS doesn't support ACPI, then either fix the OS, or use something else.

    As d2o is relatively cheap, maybe I'll try that some day..

    This is bullshit. He's going to jail because he defaced websites. This guy thinks he's above the law, and appears to be amazed that he was arrested. That's like saying that it's ok to vandalize a store because you don't like the people who own it. And then when the cops show up and take you away, saying that they're arresting you because you're being oppressed.

    JVC and Panasonic both make nice ones. I believe that the Panasonic even has a motorized slide in/out screen. It's only about 5", but it looks sweet. The only downside is the cost...~$1200US last I checked.

    It's easy to use, easy to configure and boots everything I care about. I'll admit it could be tricky for a beginner, but it's very simple to learn.

    I've got 2x433s, but can't get them to run stable w/ 2 Alpha PAL6035s at more than 500 or so. It has 512 Megs, so I'll have to scrap that if I buy a new board, but that's not too expensive anymore.

    The main reason to upgrade would be to have 2x1Ghz, which would give me a decent boost in performance. Plus, each cpu has a dedicated bus to memory, so they should get a nice boost on any memory io intensive programs.

    I think I'll wait a few months to purchase one, but I've got a feeling that I may not be able to hold out for too long ;)

    It looks like I've finally found a board that's worthy enough to replace the bp6 I've been using forever.

    The bp6 let me use low cost celerons in an smp config, and now I can use durons the same way.

    If you're concerned about this, disable javascript and/or vbscript.
    I always have two browsers on my computers. One that prompts for cookies and has java and javascript enabled, and the other rejects all cookies, and has java and javascript disabled. I use the secure(r) one for cruising the web, and if I need to go to a useful site that requires javascript and/or cookies, I use the less secure one.

    Last I checked, 4" wasn't quite small enough to easily roam a desktop. You can only go a short distance in each direction, and it'd be to easy to get stuck. Now, 4" would make a great toy for driving around the office, but on the floor, no the desk.

    But you're not in charge. AMD already lost out on it, so the next time you hear of Alpha will be when Intel releases the Itanium. Then all it will be is a blurb saying that Intel purchased the Alpha product from Compaq, and hence there won't be any competion for Intel.

    Keyboards and mice are pretty cheap, but the ethernet adapters (Broadband adaptor is what they call them) are 50-70.

    I know ebworld.com has them, but I'm sure you can find them elsewhere cheaper if you look.

    What about AOL/TimeWarner? They're a good chunk of the MPAA. While they may not own the actual cable, they own all the routers sitting on the @Home and AOL networks...

    If they wanted to implement filtering, it's perfectly legal for them to. Of course, some customers would be unhappy, but they'd get used to it in time.

    They really aren't that cool. All they give you is 50% more (for armor that's defense, for weapons, damage). I used an ethereal superior buckler for awhile, but didn't find that it gave me any noticible increase in defense over the regular one.

    The fun at Costco was published in '98 I think. It basically told what the generic logins to their AS400 systems were, how to access the terminals, etc..

    AFAIK, it was fixed by Costco shortly after that article came out, but I'm sure there are other companies like them that you can play with...
