Sometimes asking to be paid to complete a phone survey actually works. So why not ask to be paid for every survey call you get? The worst that can happen is the call ends prematurely.
Yeah... a critical firefox update, and here they are doing a spyware quiz with it.
I looked at this quiz briefly and thought "what a load of crap". I never go to any of these type of sites they are using for examples so to me one looks just as bad/good as the other. I know I'm not a perfect user, and that's why I perform regular spyware/malware/virus scans with updated definition files.
These days it seems that legitimate companies need to apply for patents in order to cover thier asses... Either that or purchace a licence for the technology from useless patent holding companies like NTP to avoid getting sued.
Page editors like this although great for people who don't understand page design and hosting, will inevitably just make it easier for everyone to dump more crap then there already is on the internet...
There are people who believe that GLBT groups are just as dangerous as pedophiles, that they "prey on children", and that they try to influence others to 'be like them' and view them as a "menace to society".
These people are typically narrowminded and don't understand anything about what they fear... these people also are the ones influencing others to fear/hate. As far as i'm concerned it's people like this who are a "menace to society".
Friend of mine has one of these and the key's make quite a bit of noise and it's got a real "cheap" feel to it... I don't even think he uses it anymore. I'll stick with my qwerty keyboard, couldn't imagine pc gaming with anything else.
Yup... I worked as IT tech for a Telemarketing company that did sales for companies like Mcafee, Crystal Reports, and Citrx. The telemarketing company was liable for not complying with the DNC... NOT the companies it was calling for.
Although this company started their calls stating "We are calling on behalf of McAfee... " not "This is so and so calling from McAfee". Maybe that made the difference. *Shrug*
Where I work we still have problems with users giving out their login passwords to everyone in their department... they have no idea why that is a security risk. A lot of users don't seem to understand the simplest of computer security measures.
It would be nice to be able to run your favorite app and know that you have cleared all the crap off of your computer, but since there doesn't seem to be any standardizations in place, I'll continue to do scans with 3 or 4 different apps.
Is there even a demand for ms office on linux? Is this supposed to be a slap in the face from ms (no we won't be developing office for linux)? I use OpenOffice on my linux as well as my windows boxes, and have no complaints... I'm sure linux users aren't going to lose any sleep over this.
Even though I think a Web based office tool would be awesome... I think I'll wait till Google and Sun have actually had their press conference today before getting excited about it.
Maybe it's not the videogames that should be blamed, but programmers, engineers and other pioneers in the technology industry... right. Wasn't television being blamed also for rotting minds at one point? Maybe if we paid more attention to our children as opposed to using television and video games as a form of babysitting then things would be different. Unlikely since parents of today are now the ones who were watching tv, and playing videogames for hours when they were kids. Oh well... we're doomed.
Desktop computers will always have a place in certain areas. For instance I'm the technician for a hospital and a lot of the computer users never have any need to work from home. No reason to spend more money on a laptop that will never leave the desk. People who are on the move will require some sort of mobile tool... be it laptop, cell phone, pda etc. The best tool to fit the position.
The organization I work for still uses Office 97, and I don't think we will be upgrading to any newer versions due to cost of licencing. Office 12 looks like a nice product, but personally and professionally I find that OpenOffice is a better fit, and it's fully compatible with MS Office. That said I'm still confident that MS will do quite well with their new product.
Before i see a dentist or a doctor i like to get some opinions on who I should or shouldn't go to. Which can be difficult if you are new to the area. If it's constructive critism I see no reason why it shouldn't be posted online, but not outright slander. Last thing I want is some hack fixing my teeth or prescribing me meds.
You probably also think earth is only 10,000 years old... when "god" created man.
Yup... i was going to say this sounded like a bunch of BS. Nothing about this article seems credible.

Or maybe the makers spyware cleansing apps are getting paid off by more and more companies like gator/claria to not consider them spyware.

As far as I'm concerned spyware is never a good thing. Especially the ones that claim you have control.

Speaking of BOFH, there hasn't been a new episode posted in quite some time... whats up with that?

2.0 is their beta version
The more common users that are starting to embrace what are thought of as secure products... the more people will start to exploit.

Looks like a giant step backwards to me...
I get one pop-up when visiting a site for the first time and theres a good chance that I'll never return.
