Perhaps I didn't word my thoughts very well. What I was trying to say is that he would go on a violent rampage unless he vented his anger by playing a violent video game.
I would liken it to your mom telling you to go hit a pillow, instead of a person, when you're mad.
All that pent up anger of his is finally coming out. I wouldn't be surprised if he went on a shooting spree like the troubled people he says were driven to violence by video games. I think he should try a violent video game and see just how cathartic it can be.
I know it sounds a little far fetched but I have to wonder if this sort of thing could eventually read out minds. How scary would it be if some one could hack your computer and read your mind?
It makes me feel like a Neuromancer future isn't all that far off.
...but what the hell is up with these users starting their replies with something like: "I'll probably get modded down for trolling, but..." Are you saying you know your answer will not be appreciated, but you're just the kind of crazy, out-there, don't-give-a-damn, cool guy that says it anyway? Just say what you have to say and stand by it. Stop showing off your insecurity, and/or lack of knowledge on the subject.
There is a good reason why people do that. It's a technique of Neuro-linguistic programming called pacing. It's used to build rapport with someone.
From the wiki article.
"NLP proposed a number of simple techniques involving matching, pacing and leading for establishing rapport with people.[12] There are a number of techniques explored in NLP that are supposed to be beneficial in building and maintaining rapport such as: matching and pacing non-verbal behavior (body posture, head position, gestures, voice tone, and so forth) and matching speech and body rhythms of others (breathing, pulse, and so forth)."
A common day to day example is a telemarketer that that verbally acknowledges that you must be busy with many other things to do, this is pacing what you're thinking, but if you'll just give them a few moments they'll make it worth your time.
I completely agree with you. At least when you pull the carbon from the air and put it back you are maintaining an equilibrium instead of bringing carbon stored in the ground an releasing it into the air.
They just need to lash some CEOs to the wings of their jets. I don't have any exact figures but I strongly suspect that they put out the same amount of hot air as a jet engine.
I saw it last night. I think it is hands down the best Marvel based movie I have seen. Good plot, pace and special effects. The pace was so good that I didn't realize that two hours had passed and was surprised when the movie started to wrap up.
p.s. When you go see the movie stay until the end of the credits for a nice surprise.
A Borg, a Terminator, and Robocop walk into a bar. The bartender looks at them and asks, "Is this some kind of a joke?"
I don't know, is it? Cause you're in desperate need of a punchline.
I predict a service selling clipart LifeBits to people who have really boring lives. It's called MyLifeStore. You upload a picture of your face and for $25 you can buy a LifeBit of you doing exciting stuff like bungy jumping while saving rain forests in the Amazon. Use it to overwrite that day when you just stayed at home and read/. all day long. There I fixed that for you
What I find more interesting is that they skipped any intermediary options in pricing and bandwidth. For example FIOS has a 5 by 2 for 40 dollars , 15 by 2 for 50 dollars and a 30 by 30(I think) for 180 dollars. Why the hell didn't Comcast offer a reasonably price intermediate speed on the order of 15Mbps up and 2Mbps down like Verizon did?
It seems very stupid to me but on the other hand what else would you expect from a company that uses it's own name as an adjective?
You victims may not but your competition, at least for gangs and drug dealers, still will. I haven't seen hard numbers but from what I read in the news it seems like a significant percentage of the killings are gang/drug dealer related with disputes over drug trade, respect and territory being the catalyst. This will not change by disarming law abiding citizens. It also will not get worse by having the citizen armed. These are symptoms of a society that has lost respect for human life, taking away guns will not fix that. It just disarms those that value life and would like to protect it.
If you really want to discourage gun violence then make laws that punish people more severely for committing crimes with guns. If you're caught illegally possessing a firearm 25 years. Hold up a store/ rob a house with a gun 50 years. Kill someone with gun( 1st, 2nd, or 3rd degree murder) Life in prison or death sentence. Make the consequences for committing crime with a gun so devastating that people will start to think twice before they do it. If they still do it well then you wouldn't have solved much by taking a away the gun anyways.
Well, see, the nice thing about knowing that your prospective victim isn't packing a gun, is that you don't have to pack a gun either; why incur needless expense?? You can get the job done perfectly well with just a baseball bat. Only rational people limit the amount of force they use to scare people. A drug dealer, gang member, thief, or drug addict doesn't care that their victims are defenseless, they will still use the maximum amount of force they can afford. If a baseball bat is all they can afford then that is what they will get but if they can they will buy a gun. If they cared about people in the first place they wouldn't be doing the things they do. It all comes down to simple economics to them.
You make an excellent point but might I make a suggestion for a different name. Installware would seem to be more appropriate for programs installed with another program installer. i.e. Acrobat Reader installing Google tool bar by default. Since this program is installed by the updater for programs all ready installed I would suggest updateware.
So I can make hydrogen while driving. At an efficiency of perhaps 96%. So, 100 units of energy in resulting in 96 units of energy in the form of hydrogen. Those 96 units then power the car.
Why wouldn't I cut the middle step out and simply use 100% of the energy to make the wheels go round and round?
Powering the water splitting with the hydrogen fuel engine would be silly. A more likely implementations could include solar power, stored in batteries, and or reclaiming waste heat(as previously mentioned)to power the electrolysis once it reaches 96% efficiency.
The typical compressor that fills SCUBA tanks at my local dive shop can reach these pressures that are around 4000 to 4500 PSI. Those compressor usually run some where in the 3000 dollar for a smaller light duty compressor on up to 10,000 to 20,000 dollars for the heavy duty load cycles.
I have a couple of tanks that hold 130 cubic feet of air @ ~3500 PSI that take about 10 minutes to give it a relatively 'cold' fill. 130 (cubic feet) = 3 681.19006 liters so that tank could hold quite a bit more air than the 340 liters that their carbon fiber tank holds @ ~ 4300PSI.
I have talked with a number of clients and friends that have had their Vonage service unofficially blocked by Comcast.
As a side not I have also had plenty of clients have their IPSEC VPN traffic blocked by Comcast as well.

If there were a petition to save Win Xp, with Vista as the alternative, I bet it would eclipse the petition to get Uwe Boll to stop directing.

Sorry for the bad Monty Python reference. :-)
