  1. Web caching? on Ships Turned Away As Aussie Customs' IT System Melts Down · · Score: -1

Maybe the web front end was sending stale stuff? Stale, cached pages are the number one reason for web issues.

  2. Zulu works for me. on Ontario to Match U.S. DST Change · · Score: 1, Insightful

No daylight savings, no time zones, no AM/PM even! It's just GMT 24hour.

  3. Really? on Wallace and Gromit Studio Loses History · · Score: 0

I'm here, and I think sentient beings are worth saving as well as bits. Perhaps I don't belong here, then?

  4. Disabled for ads? on DARPA Grand Challenge Finalists Announced · · Score: 0

I'm considering doing that. Had enough of that Crucial vibrating ad (oh, and I'll make sure never to buy from them too).

  5. I don't care at this point. on DARPA Grand Challenge Finalists Announced · · Score: -1, Troll

The military is behind some great technologies, and ultimately those will lead to posthumanism. That goal is so important that I don't care if the military tortures kittens on a regular basis to help get there. Once we are posthuman, we can "advance our understanding of our planet and the universe" and stop torturing kittens. Nothing else matters.

  6. Now just slap a cyberthalamus in on DARPA Grand Challenge Finalists Announced · · Score: 2, Funny

And you have a sentient robot car. But you gotta make a cyberthalamus first.

  7. Yeah I'm surprised. on EU, UN to Wrestle Internet Control From US · · Score: 0

I thought the /. stock response would be "I hate the USA, going global is cool. We're all the same species anyway."

  8. Yes there is on ATi Radeon X1K Graphics Launched, Benchmarked · · Score: 0

You have to think about minimum fps. During a big firefight, you want all the power you can get. No card can get a minimum fps equal to refresh rate in any modern title.

  9. Is it offered in lojban? on Free Gentoo Technical Support · · Score: 0, Offtopic

Support in lojban is highly useful, especially since it is the most common language of computer using people.

  10. Sure, like love on Vista Licensing Speeds Linux Move · · Score: 1

But the concept of money will be vastly different. Perhaps employed in ORPG, but not the fiat system we have today.

  11. It doesn't on Vista Licensing Speeds Linux Move · · Score: 1

But being self-sufficient means you can live in outer space with no contact with anyone--this does remove the need for goods and services.

  12. Humanity is wiped out? on Vista Licensing Speeds Linux Move · · Score: 1

Um...yeah, that's what I'm talking about. We won't be human.

  13. Am I the first to say Baduk? on Chess Program Released for Linux and Mac · · Score: 2, Funny

Or...Go. Go Go Go Go Go. Gotta mention it in a chess article as a /. meme.

  14. Implants actually make the whole issue moot on Vista Licensing Speeds Linux Move · · Score: 1

When we are self-sufficient through implants, there is no society at all. A posthuman needs no money concept.

  15. Ah, ok on NASA Takes Step Forward In Planet Finding · · Score: 1

So you're saying that transhumanism will render the whole issue moot.

  16. Let's get the instruments in space on NASA Takes Step Forward In Planet Finding · · Score: 2, Insightful

When will we get all our instruments to examine space...in space? I can't imagine a scientific reason to look from the crust of a planet for anything in deep space.

  17. It's beyond that on Best Buy vs. The Game Makers · · Score: 2, Interesting

I thought about the issues of automation before I pondered transhumanism. When you are a self-sufficient machine, the whole idea becomes moot. It's like arguing about horse rights for the military--completely moot.

By the way, I do know of transhumanism--and the movement is only going to grow. It's international, atheistic, and going to explode!

  18. Total Annhiliation? on Best Buy vs. The Game Makers · · Score: 1

Was there fan-fic done beyond the game and expansion? Nobody even remembered it for story as I recall. Pretty and fun, though.

  19. Transhumanism should render this moot on Best Buy vs. The Game Makers · · Score: 1

It's just "intellectual property". When we have everything we could ever need or want as engineered machines, we don't need to worry about people copying our creative works.

  23. My 4GB thumb drive on Portable Storage Guide · · Score: 2, Funny

  24. But it's much easier on Why Students Are Leaving Engineering · · Score: 1

As a transhuman you have massive computing storage and power in your brain. It's nice to derive things slowly, but a posthuman will make the same process much more efficient. Engineer your body!

  25. Transhuman's can look back on Tech Geezers vs. Young Bloods · · Score: 1

When we are posthuman, we can look back and see how it all works. Why bother now? We need to start engineering our bodies and brains.
