This is one of those things where the government has to wake up, realize that the invisible hand isn't doing a goddamn thing to change these people's lives for the better (Nixon opened our markets and diplomats to China, and we're talking about them 40 years later the same way we were in the 60's), and take action. Do you honestly believe this?

If anything, the fact this post got modded up to Score:4, Insightful proves there is tremendous racism in America. The author first denies racism in the 50s. (Does Martin Luther King, Malcolm X ring a bell) Then goes on to offend other cultures that values strong social connections. (I have been to Iran and I can tell you I am treated much warmer than I have been in the US) Lastly, the authors takes inferiority of browns and blacks as a given fact. Ask your self, if a crown of IT nerds could mod this bullshit up to insightful. Is there no racism in IT hiring practices?

    2) global warming is not a threat to nature! nature has dealt with catastrophic climated changes in the past and it will deal with them in the future. the threat of global warming is to us humans and the the status quo of nature, but there's no doubt in my mind that the ecosystems will adapt to a warming planet - as they have to countless ice ages, meteor hits, etc. although i would find it a shame to see ice bears going extinct due to human interference in world climate, we _can_ not take responsibility of _nature_ on this scale; what if a warmer climate brought forth an even more beautiful creature than the ice bear? wouldn't we make _that_ extinct by preventing global warming as well? Yestoday it was the dinasours. Today it is the polar bears. Tomorrow it will be the humans. Regardless of the possibilities, naturn gets the last laugh while we do not.

My course load this semester doubled from last semester, which doubled from the semester before that. The TA's are every bit as unhelpful as first year. Mean while I am still paying twice the tuition fee of that of the arts and science students. Having incentives being increasing misaligned against engineering, it leads me to wonder what sort of major character flaws do upper year undergrad engineering students have that prevent them from excelling in other areas of life. As for me, I can only say that my ill placed respect for the profession of engineering during my high school year has lead me to a mistake I shall probably regret for the rest of my life.

More than the decade after the cold war, Americans are still talking about ideology supremacy. Russia is not spreading Communism, nor is China spreading Socialism with Chinese chrematistics. It is time for America to do the same.

The time when US could use economics as a weapon is gone. No country depend on US to get what they could not get anywhere else. As Zimbabwe has shown, Western sanctions only allowed India and China to move in and fill the gap.

The world is not created according to the American image. And it never will be. Cooperation is the only way of the future.
