Hasn't that been on the Python website for a year or two now? I'm fairly sure it has been, something about how they're re-writing the core stuff, and this re-write would break backwards compatibility. From what I remember, the rewrite has to do with speed and such, which sounds like a good plan to me.

I don't really see this as much of a problem, really. Don't want to re-write your application? Don't move to Python 3000. I have several versions of python installed on my Linux machine at home, simply because there are modules that don't work with version 2.x or version 2.y or what-have-you.

So whoever wins the license for a certain band in the US will probably be awarded the same band up here in Canada ( although I'm not sure if they'll have to pay for it again -- my guess is that they probably would, why would our government miss a chance to cash in on this? ).

And, heck, with the Canadian government about to do a similar auction Do you have a link to this auction that the Canadian govt. is holding? ( not trying to be snippy, just curious )

I'm fairly sure that sometime in the near future, a company will create a barcode printer that has RFID tags embedded in the stickers it prints out. That way, scanning the barcode OR the RFID tag will enter both into one database used by both systems. That way, the distribution company doesn't have to worry about needing two systems in order to ship to all their customers.

    Just a thought.

Funny, I worked at a warehouse for several months. They taught us to ride on the electric pallet jacks, because walking down the isles behind the pallet jack would increase the amount of time spent picking one order would increase greatly, and in a warehouse that shipped upwards of 17,000 pieces of frozen food (can't remember how much dry storage stuff they shipped in a day), order picking time is what the supervisors care about most. If you had a lot of stuff to pick in one isle, then you'd walk in front and to the left ( or right ) of the pallet jack, because you want to get to the items before the pallet jack, so that you have time to grab one, turn around and be ready to place it on your pallet and know where your next item is before the pallet jack gets to you.

We also used a computer controlled picking system, each one of us had a radio where the other end was connected to a computer. We didn't need to have sheets of paper with our picking lists, because the computer took care of all of that for us. On the occasion where something got screwed up and we did have to pick from a sheet of paper ( a very rare occurrence ), I know that the picking time for that order was horrible ( upwards of thirty minutes compared to less than ten minutes for a regular order ).

also, i kinda like how they didn't actually explain anything but let the movie do it for you... it adds alot of mystery to the movie when you only know what the characters know, and irony can still be introduced by letting different characters know different things (like when the main char had no idea about those little monsters) That was my problem with the movie. When it comes to monster movies, I like to know. That's why I'm such a fan of the Godzilla movies, because Godzilla ( and pretty much all of his foes ) have backstory. I like to know the how and why of the monster. How did it come to be, and why is it pounding on this city? Even The Mist had this ( it wasn't spelled out, but they give you enough to piece it out ). I also would have liked to know what exactly happens to people that got bit by the smaller monsteres. Did they just die? Turn into something else? Infect others with their blood.

But all in all, I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was well done, although the shaky cam was somewhat annoying. But it fit with the plot. The movie was about people in the middle of a giant monster attack. The movie ended when they died.

It's also the same for my current job as a tech support*. The first few times I tried helping someone, it was a comedy of errors. Now that I've been doing it for a while things are much smoother and I'm able to help people fix their problems much quicker.

As an aside, I wonder what the percentages are for how people fall into those three groups. I know lots of people that learn orally or visually, but not many that learn by doing.

Asides from the fact that nearly all the good smartphones are GSM ( I want a CDMA phone because that's what the good service provider in my area uses ), here in Canada I can't sign up for a Skype-In number. We've got Skype-Out, just no Skype-In. I also checked out Gizmo, and they have numbers setup for Gizmo-In ( or whatever they call it ). But I really want the OpenMoko phone ( or rather, the FIC Neo 1973 ), but since it's GSM only at the moment....

Then again, what I really want is a wi-fi enabled phone that can run Skype, so I can get a minimal cell plan ( maybe pay-as-you-go ) so that I can use Skype as often as possible, and only use my cell minutes when I'm not near a hotspot ( which is rare here in the Lower Mainland ). The only problem with that plan is that Skype doesn't currently offer SkypeIn in Canada, just SkypeOut. Damnnit!

    * I can go into a Rogers Wireless store and do... jack shit. You can sign up for a phone, but you can't pay your bill there. Or find out how much you owe.
    * I can call and wait twenty minutes ( or more ) to do it on the phone.
    * I could do it online, but I find their site something of a headache to navigate.

All this since all the billing has to go through Cingular ( I think. Probably wrong about the company, but I know it goes through someone else ), Rogers can't take care of it themselves.

I've been wanting to cancel for a while now, but since I'm close to the end of my three year contract ( I think ), I might just stick it out so I don't have to pay the $20/month-till-end-of-contract-up-to-two-hundred-dollars cancellation fee.

The worst part is, I want to get the OpenMoko Neo1973, but it's a GSM phone... and the only GSM provider in my area is Rogers. All I want is a smartphone that has built in wifi so I can use skype when I'm near a hotspot, damnit. I might just go with the Palm Treo 700wx ( I'll have to buy a wifi card for it, oh well ), just so I can sign up with a plan with Telus.
