I was traveling through Europe for a month and of course I notified my bank ahead of time where and when I would be traveling. About halfway through the trip they shut down my credit card for "suspicious activity" (hostel, food, train tickets, all purchased in the locations I specified to them). Fortunately I had my debit card, so I used that to get me through the rest of the trip. When I got my next bank statements, they had charged a 1%+ exchange fee per transaction to the debit card I had been forced to use, while the credit card they shut down had no exchange fee. Wonder how many billions they rake in a year off that scam.
The companies fighting GMO labeling (Monsanto, Kraft, PepsiCo, Coca Cola, etc.) have put huge amounts of money into these campaigns. You think your health has anything to do with it? All they care about is profit. Concealing information from you for profit.
Another thing I don't like about voluntary "GMO free" labeling is that it puts the burden on the producer who is not using GMOs rather than the producer who is using it. Kind of like organic farming. If you want to grow produce naturally you have to pay for the privilege of labeling your food as natural. If you want to use all the "conventional" chemicals, go for it, no extra fees and no labeling required.
It is ridiculous how backwards things are. And their clever marketing has you arguing for your own undoing.
Back in the day (1997'ish), teachers would yell at me for programming the TI-84+ during high school. I wrote programs to help my with the tedious parts of my calculus homework, and also wrote blackjack, Space Invaders, Pong and a couple other games all from scratch in TI-Basic. In the end I probably learned more from that than I did in my classes. Fast forward 17 years, I never went to college and have been gainfully employed ever since programming. I like to think a little part of my success is due to the TI-84+.
Eat a tomato right off the vine, then try saying that again with a straight face. Or crack open a local farm fresh egg and compare its rich color and flavor to the sad pale yolk in the eggs you buy at the supermarket. GP is absolutely correct.
Why are some developers obsessed with performance? The user probably isn't. They don't care whether something loads 2 seconds quicker, or whether something has beautifully concise code.
You sir, are part of the problem. Thinking like this leads to layers upon layers of inefficiencies and the user experience often suffers dramatically. Why don't people just code efficiently? Is it too hard or are you just too lazy?
Sorry dude, each person in my family is saving $40+ per month (and gets more minutes!) after we all switched from individual plans to Verizon family plan.
Family plans offers excellent savings, and the calculator confirms it.
I'm on Verizon, and used to pay $100+ per month (after taxes) for my smart phone with only 450 minutes, unlimited txt, and unlimited data. Now that I'm on the family plan I have unlimited minutes, unlimited txt, and 10 GB split across 6 people (we've never used more than 3 GB total in a month). I pay $60 per month now (after taxes), a savings of $500 per year just for me, and a savings of $3000 per year for all 6 of us. The new family share plans actually make it affordable to get great service with unlimited minutes. What an idiotic summary.
Many of the houses which were cheaply tossed up during the housing boom have incredibly poor sound dampening. The house I am in now was built in 2009 and doesn't even come close to my old 1971 block construction home. "I wish I had a house that wasn't built as quickly and cheaply as possible." - said the millions of buyers who realized that newer != better. Would you rather have antique solid wood furniture or a brand new!!! set from Ikea?
Since we don't have a -1 Incorrect moderation I must reply. Your logic makes no sense. I live in the North and I hate DST. In the summer it doesn't get dark until after 9pm. Then in the winter, because of DST, it is totally dark by 6pm. If we got rid of DST then it would be dark at 7pm instead of 6pm, and I could actually enjoy some light after work. You said yourself that "More daylight in the evening is beneficial and enjoyable" yet you argue for DST. What the hell are you smoking?
Bend falls into the "nice place to visit but you wouldn't want to live there" category.
Some people prefer the cool mountain air and plentiful outdoor activities over a crowded city. If you've lived there all your life you may yearn for a change but for me coming from a big city to Bend has been a breath of fresh air. Maybe you're just doing your part in keeping it a smaller city... if that's the case then I agree, you don't want to live there.
The N64 had a single analog stick and they released a lot more than just puzzle games. The Nintendo DS doesn't have an analog stick at all. I think they'll be fine.
You are comparing a phone (iPhone) to an operating system (Android). You then go on to say that the Android feels like it has a 3 dollar mouse, ignoring the fact that different Android phone models have different touchscreens. You are either not very smart or you're trolling. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just trolling.
If watching tv all day and eating ice cream makes them happy, then what's wrong with that?

Just point the nucleus of Barium-144 in the direction in spacetime you wish to travel.

It is ridiculous that they can sell GMO foods including Roundup Ready crops without labeling. http://web.mit.edu/demoscience... Yes, please engineer my food so it can be sprayed with more Roundup http://www.panna.org/blog/roun....

The answer, as usual, is money. The hard part is showing your work.
Free chocolates in the break room.
Stylish lab coats.
Error messages that make you FEEL better instead of just telling you what the problem is.

That's the cunning appeal of Colbert. Both conservatives and liberals love him but for completely different reasons. This has actually been studied:

Strange enough, in most of Oregon no smog test is required so there would surely be some new cost associated with a per-mile tax strategy.

Ironically, you didn't get that the "redundant" mod was itself a joke.

That's why I stay away from Microsoft hamburgers and only eat Apple meat.
