While the economy might be on a steady course (the rich getting richer, poorer getting poorer), it is not a good course. Bush has fouled up in many ways, but the most recognizable would be international relations, exporting, the weakened dollar, war in Iraq, and big corporations.
In the world of big corporations, Bush and his cronies have done everything possible to knock out the little man. They have cut programs which provide small business opportunities through loans time and time again. They have backed corporations growing to sizes not imaginable. Worst of all, they have done next to nothing, except promoting, the giant corporate trend of outsourcing to different countries. This is one of the major causes of the growing gap between upper and lower classes. Much of lower middle and upper lower America are losing their jobs to companies overseas willing to work for a fraction of minimum wage. Back in the good ol' U.S., these same people who are now unemployed can not afford to purchase the products which keep the economy growing and stable.
Exports are another big issue with this administration. They have cut more and more programs in this area, such as provided loans for businesses looking at developing and export a product. This country is going down the path of becoming a total consumer nation, leaving a very very large gap between rich and poor.
Bush's International Relations are enough to laugh at. In fact, most of the world is either laughing at him right now, or so steaming mad over him they are turning against the U.S. The administration has taken no consideration in its world affairs to what the rest of the world thinks (and yes, there is more to the world than good ol' US of A). They act on pure interest of "the country", which in a global economy, does not work well.
Speaking of global economy. During Bush's administration the value of the dollar has fallen drastically. Nations which produce more have gained value on the dollar and continue to rise. A simple trip to Europe nowadays will cost you quite a bit more than 5 years ago, and not because of inflation, but the weakened dollar.
Lastly, but oh so not least, is this never ending "war" in Iraq. The President continually refers to it as a war, although it was officially declared over a year ago. The war in Afghanistan was a well thought out and well backed decision. Iraq has been a different story though. The intelligence was flawed, something that should have been discovered earlier when human lives are involved. Due to the decision to invade Iraq, we have uprooted relations with many unstable international communities, mostly, but not limited to, the Middle East.
This President and his administration have left a mess (to say the least) for the next administration to clean up.
"I am above the law as long as this war, which will never end, goes on."
And as I recall, the war officially ended over a year ago. Everything Bush is doing now is just playing with military toys.
Why did he get re-elected again?
Welcome to BS Shipping Co! Your recipient has already paid to receive your package, so how would you like to pay to send it?
$10 option - The package arrives, sometimes, in one or more pieces, with little damage.
$100 option - The pacakage arrives, in no garaunteed condition
$500 option - The package arrives, laced in gold, with our CEOs seal of approval, and an official "Thanks for paying for my golden parachute" note.
Get real BS, the way to gain back the market you are losing to VoIP is not by driving your current customers away, but by providing access that is improved (not hyped up to be).
Yeah, free until they knock out the big giants currently in the market. What I am afraid of is when they knock out the competition by being free and then start charging. Being a very popular publicly traded company, this will happen eventually.
I see Google on a slow steady track to gaining a Monopoly. Step 1: Undermine all current Monopolies with "Free" products paid for by advertising. Step 2: ??? Step 3: Monopoly!
Why hasn't this been all over the major news networks. It maybe got a small blip when the first batch of CDs were removed from stores, but then has dropped out of sight (except on smaller media outlets). Sony should truly be getting reamed for this action.
Maybe if the execs in the music industry finally realized that decline in sales is due to decline in quality, instead of "piracy", something productive could come out of the music industry again.
They lost my sale on a digital camera last month, and on a digital surround sound receiver this month. WTG Sony.
All of that is fine and dandy in their quest for world domination...
But, until they buy Wal-Mart, they still won't be able to control the world. Now if Google and Wal-mart ever merge/buy one another, I'm moving to Mars, cause Earth is going to be a scary place.
$2.50 for a box of Captain Crunch with no epileptic labelling or $50 for a box of Cookie Crisp with an animated box and lithium ion battery.... Hmmm...
They can force a recall on Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas because of a nudity code, even though it is a mature rated game and causes no security risk. Yet they won't force a recall on Sony for potential security risks created by software on their cds. Maybe if Sony pissed off and shocked the Christian population like Rockstar did, they will have some reprocussions.
The whole music industry is just pissing me off now a days. Everyone in it wants to make a bazillion dollars and are willing to step on anyone they can to do it.
Nice, now when I do my online banking, I'll have to use their virus scan. When I go pay my credit cards online, I'll have to use their virus scan. When I go pay... well, you get the point. Leave ensuring my computer is clean up to me and whatever software I choose to use.
The first issue the music industry needs to watch out for with their pricing, is the fact that the media they are selling is still available in other forms. If the pricing becomes too high for digital downloads, people will return to stores to buy the cds, or turn to pirating them again. Another issue they should watch out for, and the consumer, is that with online downloads, you have no physical/resell value to the items you are purchasing. I would much rather go to the store and pay $11 for a cd that I can resell if it sucks, or after I get tired of it, rather than downloading the same album online for $18. If you have a hard drive crash, you could be out a lot of dough for the music you have purchased.
Music execs beware, you are toying in waters that are untested and presumed dangerous. The online market, although booming, is still a fragile beast. We can decide to stop paying for music online just as quickly as well all decided to start paying for it.
I can't wait to hear about the counter lawsuit the student files against the school for damages caused by the schools over reaction. The loss of a semesters worth of work, the postponing of the students life for a full year while on suspension.
No one was harmed by this blogg, until the school decided to suspend the student. Now the school's reputation will go down the drain. I could possibly understand if the blogg was stored on school property, although I still feel that the school's actions were a bit extreme for an opinion.
The big news outfits gain profits from their advertisers. Media companies are a huge portion of their advertising revenues (think of all the flash movie ads you see now). If they report on these stories that may cripple their advertising partners, they will lose revenue. Corporations greatly influence news through advertising this way.
Step 1: Create a large network of drooling money hungry zombies
Step 2:...?
Step 3: Profit!
Don't forget, they should sue every single computer owner as well. You can use a computer to get around copyright protection on their CDs as well. The government/congress needs to take a simple logic class. To them, because I own a computer, I am going to break copyright laws, and people who break copyright laws, own computers. I hope they are having a grand old time suppressing the innocent.
So, with this being an initiative to better educate third world countries and narrow the "digital divide", is there a massive arsenal of educational software available for these things as well? Say at a reasonable price of under a dollar?
If you teach a person to fish and then give them a fishing pole, they will soon be starving without fishing line and a lure.
I think the government should stay out of the internet all together. The US Governement has just gotten too big for its britches. I can't wait until Bush gets out of office and we can get someone else in with the balls and brains to bring control to the oversized government. Bush just says yes to whatever big corporations, new born christians, and good ol' Papa Bush says.

Searching for "Failure" alone works with Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" feature.
Google "I'm Feeling Lucky" using "Failure"

I see no problem with dropping cookies... just don't violate the 5 second rule when you pick them up.
Both being government agencies, I vote "simply incompetent". Although, my vote doesn't count.

Of course, you are talking about the US Government here. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can be applied in a simple, cheap manner.

That should always return "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" by Kylie Minogue. Or of course, it could be "Da Da Da" by Trio ;)
I can't imagine how many results a simple search for "da" or "la" would return.
White Dwarf needs food badly.

I've been waiting for a subscription music service where I can download only the overplayed top 40 music!
All for under $1!
