That would bring about a few questions. How many would that require just to cover the entire United States? You state that it would be cheaper. How much do these autonomous drones cost a piece? What about the cost in terms of energy to keep charging and relaunching? What if they were to crash? With so many required to cover the entire US or Metropolitan areas surely some would come down and certainly harm someone. Just something to think about. I agree that this would make more sense, but before jumping on the bandwagon, think it out.

As living in a small city on the border who used to visit Canada often, Ottawa less than an hour away. Passports are an extremely un-welcomed trouble brought to us.

However, many, and I mean many, people get through the borders here will little to no interference. The real problem is the US Border Patrol, stopping everyone on everyday travels. I was stopped 4 times traveling the same route all the same day. They constantly harass you and think they have the absolute right to do whatever the hell they want. It really pisses me off. Not to mention the brand new SUVs they get EVERY year and I'm not exaggerating. What really suprises me is the boats that they use to patrol the St. Lawrence River. Semi-old, and do not stop and question anyone.

One more thing, they seem to hate all Americans that go across the border. They associate our foreign policy with every person. Don't expect to go over there and someone not to try to fight you because "You Americans are all the same." Maybe it's just me, but the more you stick to not having fun you will not have a problem.

I agree with your statement mostly but it is such a pain in the ass to switch if everything worked for you fine. Consider that my credit card company had a web interface that I always used to make payments suddenly added a whole new flash interface that would not work with firefox/linux. It was the correct version of flash, so I figured it was the credit card company's fault

Long story short, I complained to the company and within a week or two it was fixed without me doing a thing. (no updates)

P.S. This probably won't work in your case.

I am not in IT, but have a vague background of 3 medium size utility companies in my area. They all use Linux (SLES 9,Debian,Ubuntu) to power their web servers and all use VNC to connect (but do not know what it is called.) I have had to teach the IT people for those various companies how to configure and maintain the servers through the command prompts. None of them have ever ventured outside Windows GUI.

The sad reality is that 2 of those servers rely heavily on Gnome (VNC) for maintenance, since I have left they have outsourced the work. I think VNC is becoming the norm now, and at least make it an easy option without a whole lot of configuration.

I agree that DRM is all around bad for media. But your statements saying that Jobs is completely sincere is untrue. If he was why hasn't he tried for Disney's entire movie collection to be rid of DRM. I mean he could do that easily since he has somewhat control over how this works unlike the Record Labels.

Also you previous statements saying that its hard for Apple to try some of their music DRM-free is utterly foolish with all you say is it is hard. Of course it's hard, everything is hard doesn't mean it isn't worth it. And saying they can already get DRM-free music from emusic.com. Most people have never heard of that and on top of that still aren't sure if it will work with their specific Ipod (MP3 Player).

I am an Apple fan in some what (I own a Ipod, MacBook Pro), but I don't see any action after his statements to believe that he was telling the truth. Take the actions necessary, spend the money, and sell some non-DRM'ed music and show the record companies your not kidding around. No more telling us what we want to hear and then bend the truth around it.
