While your post is compelling, you have it backwards. The higher the price of oil, the more oil drilling companies like Apache, Valero, Remington, Oceaneering and others go after. Why, you ask?

They wait until the price for a barrel of their product rises before they begin operations to explore and drill. Truly, it's the missing link in the 1. 2. 3. Profit! scheme. Just wait. Wait until you get a better price before you go get your product. They don't just go to oil and starting pumping away. No, those boys are pretty fucking smart when it comes to maxing their profits (and in some cases ruthless, right OII CEO John R. Huff?).

You know, it may just be that Take Two's signature game, GTA, is running out of steam. IMHO, GTA:SA was weak. It just didn't have the ambience and openness of GTA3 and GTA:VC.

And Max Payne? Fuck 'em. The original was a cool, refreshing twist. MP2 was obscenely SHORT. Finished that motherfucker in only a couple hours, and I usually don't play games by attrition. That franchise is now dead to me, and I know I'm not alone in feeling this way.

So, the fat lady may be warming up with regards to Take Two's future.

  23. Re:A bad thing??? on Hot Coffee Makes Take-Two A Cheap Buy · · Score: 1
Some reasons for the dip in Take Two's stock price (many of which could apply to the industry as a whole):

    1. Threat of regulation. This could be anything. Generally, when politicians start railing against your company and/or industry, it hurts the bottom line.

    2. Less ripe for mergers and takeovers. Say Disney or some other big corporation is looking to add a video game division. Big corporations don't like the risk that Congressional oversight brings.

    3. Long term, shock hurts the bottom line. Remember when the music industry started making money peddling anything with a "Explicit Lyrics" sticker on it. The music industry got decent lift (despite the general absence of talent). How are they looking now?

Frankly, I think Take Two's stock dip is symptomatic of bigger problems in the video game industry which have been discussed here to no end.
