  4. No thanks on Give Mac Explorer to the People? · · Score: 0, Redundant

Microsoft can keep Internet Explorer, let it die. Its bloated, its slow, its so full of holes and exploits that no one should be running it in the first place. There is Firefox and Safari for Mac OS X, and Mac OS 9 users can always go back to Netscape or Mozilla (early release). I don't know what all the fuss is about, it (IE) was a badly written; late to market; bloatware browser in the first place.

My son came home last night talking about a friend at school who stood in line to purchase one of these OVER HYPED game systems. He took it home and set it up and after about 5 min of gameplay the system crashed and became un-usable. He is now taking it back for a refund. Based on their track record, Microsoft will have to come out with a firmware upgrade or some such nonsense as consumers have once again become their beta testers.

  17. Yah and theres a good reason for that on Mac OS X x86 Put To The Test · · Score: 1

If Apple were to release MacOS x86 for any old run of the mill Intel based computer. That would mean the end of the line for Apple's well designed and award winning hardware. Apple would compete for desktop OS market that is currently dominated by Microsofts Windows operating system. But as we all know domination does not mean superior and any market can change over time (anyone remember what VHS did to BETA then DVD did to VHS is a prime example). So in the short to mid-term, hardware contol is good for Apple, but it may not be so good for the market. Time will tell.

  20. Not Apples to Apple's on Apple - What A Difference Eight Years Can Make · · Score: 1

Since Apple has branched out (pun intended) to consumer electronics (ie: the iPod). I'm not sure you can still call them a *just* a computer company. They are more of a Digital Media/Consumer Electronics and computing platform maker. Not sure what you would call that outside the fact that they have successfully diversified where Dell has not. If the computer market dries up tomorrow, Dell will be in big trouble. Apple will still have the iPod's and the digital music/media to fall back on.

  22. Re:Still overpriced on Apple Unveils New Pro Products · · Score: 1

Apple Reps love to blow smoke in your face and use the dog and pony show to make their product look good. But seriously, we have associates who have road tested (ie: taken them out of the office), the ibook with mixed results. Everything from cracked screens to chips dents and OS issues when running pro software. The Ti-books are quite lovely by comparison and hold up for everyone I know who owns one. The problem and the gripe was the price point, and only Apple can change that, but they won't.

  23. Re:Still overpriced on Apple Unveils New Pro Products · · Score: 1

We have looked at the ibooks and will pass thanks. These may be fine for School children, but they won't hold up to the road test and no one in the office likes white.

  24. Still overpriced on Apple Unveils New Pro Products · · Score: 2, Insightful

Apple has yet to grab "the middle class" market. Thats the price range from $1000-1500.00, what most consumers in that area expect to pay for a new Laptop. I'm very disappointed that Apple is still charging $2000-2400 for G4 powerbooks that are now a generation behind their desktops and priced more than a comparable Wintel notebook. At this price point looks like we'll be buying some more Mac Mini's and lugging the monitors arround, fun stuff.
