indeed, he shouldn't. He should just get rid of his computer and go wacht tv ( or get a Mac, if he believes that will take him to utopia ). That brainless ranting just shows his frustration.. of being a completely incapable to deal with computers. I've had my share of problems with playing video on my linux box.. but nowadays mplayer does a better job than M$ mediaplayer here.
"mplayer -fs movie.mpg" my secret magical keystroke..
sue the state for the road that leads to that place where you can get those illegal goods? Or isn't that a similar thing? ahwell, if you can sue Burger King for the fact that you've grown fat.. I shouldn't be surprised.
First to say that this option does look kinda nice..
But from a usability perspective it is just not
very usefull because it doesn't help you be more
productive. Besides usually it just makes most
documents unreadable. Give me the alt-leftmousebutton-drag-window-around option instead. That just helps not having to select the
window dragbar... which makes life a lot easier..
"material objects at a point of sale location"
since when are downloads "Material objects"!?!
And it doesn't apply to all downloads, since a point
of sale location really needs something to sell!?
But hey what do I know:)
You must be like water, it fits into any
container, but it can damage a rock.

Let's all go out and be practical! buy things
strictly functional.
You don't buy a ferrari for it's functionality,
though it's still a vehicle for getting from
A to B... ( in style? or whatever might apply here)
'good design' two words that just do not match..
Didn't M$ and a couple of other big companies do
some research a while ago about the costs of privacy?
Wasn't the outcome there "privacy is just too expensive, give it up"?
The steps M$ is taking do add up to the direction,
they're moving in, doesn't it?
Maybe they don't care about us just wanting usefullness or content. The majority of visitors love those fancy/flashy intros anims etc.
So why should they care as long as they're selling?
Though some might not know otherwise..:)
is ignorance bliss?
uhmm... here in The Netherlands we have a progressive taxation, which kinda makes me wonder why I should try and work any harder. Because of every dollar (dfl.) I'd make extra they take more.
So it really makes a dent in productivity.
I have been Working with a mouse and the keyboard for over 12 years now, and I've never had any problems. There are a lot of companies out their who would love to see you buy all the ergonomic gadgets they can come up with.
But I really think you just shouldn't sit in the same position for too long. Don't get me wrong I think it's a good thing that we're thinking about the problems and are taking actions. But how far will this thing go? Are we going to sit in a special seat where you can't even move freely about? I really don't think that these gadgets will bring the solution.
personally I train my arms and fingers with the simplest of things I have lying around on my desk. Like pencils or little balls etc.
as I've said 12 years and not one day of pain, I'm not going to spend my money on those things. They will not help me, if you think they will be of any help to you I think you should get them.
cd's have a far greater production cost, so the price would be a lot higher for a cd. I think that's exactly why they chose this option. Take out the distributor et voila. Now where is all this extra money coming from... ?!?:)
Distributing has become the reason for us paying too much for our music. This is just some new way of distributing... wonder how long it will take for the big companies to come in and claim it for themselves?! Or these new companies to become big and do the same thing... ?!:)
indeed, as the quote says :
'which we all respect and believe in.' sounds quite interesting to me.

if government agencies sometime decide to use
profiling. You might just be labeled "pregnant gay al-qaeda terrorist"
don't complain?
in a democracy it's your right to complain!
How much does piracy count for the success of a product???

How about sueing Apple for releasing an upgrade
with which this is possible? They are giving
you the tools to circumvent their own license.

Actually I see little difficulty..

Method and system for securing, managing or optimizing a personal 'computer'
Most ASP's services provide a way to secure,
manage or optimize an OS or some piece
of software. Let them prove otherwise in
court..
maybe Steve would like to license?

The Answer is always simple.

"media interest in identifying a viable competitor to Microsoft." ?!
When will these people see that Microsoft is NOT the centre of the universe?
On the other hand it took a long time for them to understand the world wasn't flat.
who's making big bucks building new tech-warfare
machinery!? I wonder if they've been lobbying this new theatre of war?!
Stupid patriotism.
Are we really waiting for such a book?
Maybe yes, but why the **** AMERICAN!?!
or is it just me?
That's why I'm trying to get OSS like The GIMP into the art school I'm studying Interaction Design at!
But it's not easy getting designers to switch platform. So tips and suggestions are welcome!
