Somebody with a free ride to Stanford voluntarily gave that up to take classes at community college? This story is missing some information. That or your friend chose a vastly inferior educational option.
Better yet, go learn the local language at a fashion college in a foreign country. It doesn't get better than this. I did something similar after I got my engineering degree.
Reminds me of the book Alas, Babylon where everybody in the line of succession is killed by Russian nuclear weapons.. Down to the Secretary of Education, if I recall.
I was a senior in hs when the Starship Troopers movie came out, and at the time I was bitter disappointed the movie did not follow the book. Now that I am older, I really appreciate the satire of the movie. Clearly the director found the brand of fascism in the book incredibly distasteful, so he effectively undermined the core messages of the book. I cannot think of any other instances where a movie is intentionally a satire/parody of the source material, but it works wonderfully here.
I'm pretty sure accounts opened in '99 or '00, in the fallout from the Postel flamefest or something. I thought the whole account thing was going to be a fad, thus my high user id.
IANAL, but I think the proper course of action in this case is to sue the US government in their home country. If successful, they could have US assets there frozen and seized.
You can buy the SIMs alone, but you need to go to an actual T-Mobile/ATT/carrier store, in my experience. You might be able to do it through the carrier website too.
The thing I have a problem with is that they will collect all your personal information to activate the disposable SIM, unlike anywhere else in the world.
There was another/. story a few months ago discussing password encryption. What I gleaned was that using md5 for sensitive data on your webserver is insufficient. So I'm a bit surprised (well, maybe not) to see a big site like linkedin cut corners with security. I personally use a Python implementation of Blowfish.
But how about a RealDoll?
It is the pinnacle of silicone/endoskeleton technology.
It would be a great automation project for the rasppi. :D

A tired metaphor. Chinese have their own version of chess, too.
Have you considered going back to Harvard for an MBA?
..she was not burnt by the hot grits.
You went to the wrong school.

Fiat money blah blah. I am sick of hearing that. Feel free to cash out your bank account and start a bonfire.
Not to mention- how would you generate comparable amounts of thrust with solar?
I knew there's been something annoying missing from Slashdot in recent history. Can't say I've missed his submissions.
Reminds me of the book Alas, Babylon where everybody in the line of succession is killed by Russian nuclear weapons.. Down to the Secretary of Education, if I recall.
The profit meme appeared on Slashdot immediately after the underpants gnomes episode of Southpark... probably before 4chan existed.
I don't see how this is germane to the rfid discussion at all. But hey, why not go the sensational righteous outrage route.
Seriously, this is overblown. These are rfid badges, not gps transmitters. I suspect there is a complete misunderstanding of how these things work.
It's also the end to all sci fi novels.
Terrible prose, predictable plot, poor character development, dubious moral messages.
It is utter crap.

Look up the Hitler youth, eh? What a persuasive argument.

You might drop by the UT EE building and see what's going on there.

Good god, for real? Do you wear a helmet?
Perhaps at the exit, run the pipes through solar collectors. Using solar heat would be a cheap way to drive up efficiency.
Basements are not common in Texas, fyi.
