    Seriously, you have a very good point. That is the way business is done in some third world countries. They don't consider it wrong. Anyone with power expects to be paid, much like waitresses expect to be tipped here.
    Microsoft apparently failed to pay all of the right people.

    How much does it change if we know John Doe's name? It might be very good for John Doe's business. I know when I am looking for an ISP, it would be a very good selling point if they said " We honor our customer's privacy. Even if it means risking jail. And we have court transcripts to prove it"

    Imagine how his business would boom if privacy advocates and tin-foil-hatters accross the nation started transferring their business to him.

    In the equatorial crust, He3 is about 1 part per 100 million. As best I recall, De/He3 fusion is about 5 million times as energetic - per weight - as coal. But on earth, we mine coal if it is 1 part in 20.

    There is a precedent of sorts...back in the 80's at Kaypro, we had a customer threaten to sue us because some fool in marketing said that we had 65K of memory, and there was only 64K, of course. Management told him to take a hike. And that was the last we heard of him.

    I looked at the wiki history page on aneuronic fusion, and found that wiki poster 'elerner' had been banned from further edits.
    Now here he is introducing a project that requires millions of dollars in funding.

    Ok, I'm a bit cynical, but this does look like a possible conflict of interest to me.

    I have heard stories of people trying to submit GPS data logs in the past to prove they were not speeding. The judges would not accept the data because it could be considered suspect... A GPS unit could be built that fingerprints with a private key, and sealed so that you would just about have to destroy it to hack it.

    I don't know of anyone who planned crimes specifically around Teflon for example, but who knows?

    Some crimes have been at least dependant on teflon. Bank roberies have been planned and executed that used teflon coated bullets to go though the guard's bullet-proof vests.
