It's located on the hard drive? Uhhh... what happens with a bad sector? What happens with the first EFI virus? What happens when you swap out hard drives? I think there are some details the article glossed over or skipped entirely.
4. Survival is possible... space shuttle was relatively slow, already mostly throught the atmosphere the crew may have been able to bail out, and they do have parachutes.
Think about it... a crew cabin (assuming it's intact) is tumbling at 12,500 MPH. How is it possible for anyone to be concious, much less open the escape hatch, extend the pole and exit the vehicle?
If unions can improve the quality of life and make it easier for us (in the US) to get training (for example) then what is wrong with that?
Have you seen those unemployment rates, job rules, tax rates? There are huge costs involved with having that sort of intrusive administration of the workforce from both the union and government side.
While there might be aspects that appear tempting (vacation, healthcare, etc), there is always a cost involved. That cost is more than just economic, there's a personal choice/freedom aspect that can't be discounted. Not to say that is good or bad, but some people are sensitive to that type of impact.
Doesn't sound so great. Don't forget, not every job will have that estimated profit ratio, plus there is a need to have reserves created for major foul-ups. Also, don't forget the reserves to cover the cost of downtime, so you don't have to fire everyone to make payroll. Of course, if the owner is bleeding the company dry, the employee should run for the hills, since that never turns out well.
Like another poster mentioned, it's actually part of the plan. The two are supposed to cancel each other out!
Of course, a complication here is (as the author mentions) that these cold snaps aren't unusal (historically speaking), so we should probably just keep pumping out the greenhouse gases, to make sure we can alleviate future cold snaps.
Damn, now I'm confused. I thought we were to blame for global warming? How am I supposed to feel guilty, if I can't keep track what I'm guily of? Oh, that's right, it doesn't really matter does it?
From what I've seen (could be wrong), they just count the clicks and the ad appears until you hit that ad's budget. This is a good way of taking a few bucks out of your competitor's pockets. Just keep clicking, either way you are either costing them $$$ or you use up their budget and the ad disappears.
They charge state tax even without local presence.
Here's their take on the tax thing:
In our case, state officials have ruled that because the discs you rent from Netflix are still owned by us, Netflix has a physical presence in your state. This makes Netflix's tax collection responsibility the same as if it had a brick-and-mortar store in your local neighborhood
* If you live on the east coast, you're going to have to put a lot of faith in the post (ha)
They make some allowances. I'm in Tampa, FL and the turnaround time is about 3 days. When DVDs have become lost (3 times in 2 years), they've always credited my account and sent the next disk in my queue.
By the time 4.0 and 5.0 came out, Netscape was effectively dead because every computer came with a free version of IE, and no OEM was allowed, because of MS's illegal monpolistic practices, to include Netscape also.
You're exactly right. Those were also (almost) exclusively the days of dialup access and I can't begin to tell you how many times I was asked "Why spend 45 minutes downloading NS, when IE is already on here?"
Who can say what would have happened, but NS would have had a better shot with equal footing on the desktop/os.
I'd have to disagree. I've recently seen 15 & 17 day delivery times on the Priority Shipping. This was going from Tampa FL to Portland OR. This was on envelope delivery even!
Are you going to donate the books that are useful to you or the ones that are no longer useful?
The problem with donation is the possibility of a non-technical library administration seeing all those donated Win 3.1 books and slowdown purchase of additional Windows titles that might cover newer versions. After all, Windows is Windows, right?
Hopefully, these titles would be weeded out by the staff, but that could be wishful thinking depending on the staff.
Sure, it records like a VCR, but the thing that snagged me was the ability to schedule season passes and not using VCR tapes.
I did the HD upgrade and I now have 30 hours of "best quality" recording, which would be a mess to work with, if I still had a VCR & 15-30 tapes laying around.
So, for me it's been the combination of ease-of-use/convenience and the ability to go in and add capabilities to the base product.

Sure, it's in the south, right? 8-)

If it wasn't for the hundreds to thousands of dollars in tuition and living costs, that "free" service would be quite a deal. 8-)
I was guessing he was referring to Hailstorm.

Wow, that's pretty slick! I seriously had _no_ clue this was possible/available. Thanks!

Nope, it's just clumsily worded. Newsgeek does the review.

Or.... if you use mozilla, you get the option to download. Much nicer that IE, which served it up to me right away, no questions asked.
It's that second window which autoruns the .eml file, which is really an executable that spreads the worm.
Perhaps a scriptkiddie who hit "Select All" on the "Infection Method" check box?
I'm seeing it on attacks from the 64.*.*.* segment.
Here's one with an FTP component...

Better believe it; ou 'll know him when you see him.
