I don't think this is the best economy, but I have no idea how you got modded up with all of that false info in your post. Stocks are up and oil is down in price. See here for the AP story from today about the increase in stocks and drop in oil price. Dang it I hate you, I hate Bush and you made me go and do something that defends him. Seriously, there is enough true stuff about Bush that you don't have to resort to making stuff up.
I too ran into this problem. Bought a new motherboard which should have been compatible with all of my existing parts, but when I got the motherboard it would not boot. Come to find in the 80 page manual written in poor English a tiny line about "Revision A of Willamette chips will not work on this motherboard." No reason listed, and not found anywhere in any of the reviews or forums I looked at.
If the majority of Americans value higher class chocolate you will find it to get cheaper and more accessible. That is one of the things I love about America. As for now, Hersey and Dove are good enough for most, so that is what you will find the most of. For things America excels in I would like to point to coffee and donuts. I have yet to find the variety and quality of American pastries anywhere else, and even the cheaper donuts here are pretty dang good. Enough Americans care about better coffee and donuts that higher quality products have come down in price and are extremely accessible.
I know it is a joke, and I did find it amusing, but I would like to take this time to point out that pretty much every product in America has a range of price and quality with some really freaking good products at the top. For example Milwaukee's Best is one of the worst beers made, but there are hundreds of amazing micro-brews along with the mass produced Sam Adams at twice to four times the price of Milwaukee's Best. Likewise if you are going for cheese there are some amazing Brie cheeses produced in the states, but the cost per pound is about five-fold of Kraft and ten-fold of the store-brand knockoff. So basically anything you can think of you can find someone producing an amazing version of in America, but not on a shoestring budget.
promoted the "V-chip", which we all must pay for even if we have no children.
And should I complain about taxes for public education that I have to pay even though I went to a private school? Or about roads I am taxed for even though I don't have a car? And those damn police, even though I have never been arrested or assaulted. Not to mention those fire departments, as my house has never been on fire. Worst of all is the military, I mean we haven't been attacked by a nation since the 1940's! Sheesh!
If they protest correctly it is a lot easier to get people to join in. There was recently an "anti-war" demonstration across the street from my apartment (I live on a university campus). I say "anti-war" for while the majority of people there were against the war there were also significant amounts of gay-rights and other causes protesting. Why the organizers allowed this I can not figure out, as it alienates some people who would otherwise join in. The other thing that made it have a very low turn out is they just yelled, drummed, and waved signs at passing traffic while standing in the median of the road. The state capitol is a 30 minute walk from their location, and the school administrative offices is a 3 minute walk away, but rather than try to appeal to those with some power over policy they just played in drum circles in the middle of the street. If drumming with a bunch of stoners somehow constitutes a rally, than I don't think I want my generation to rally.
I mean, there's no denying that New York and Texas have a relationship as well, but you don't see this being funny (well, pretend it'd be funny on its merits):
-What's a Texan's favorite broadway show?
-New York, New York!
-LOL!!!
You must not be from the US. As a person from the US I see this all the time (well, not your exact case but many like it). Mostly due to people not realizing how massive and diverse the US is.
On a serious note, that is one thing I hate about English, and hate even more about French. Why are there all these letters which aren't being used? Why do sounds appear that have no logical letters to create them? Even when spelling works how they sound you run into problems (see the wikipedia article on Ghoti). Sometimes I think we should switch everything to Hebrew or one of the simple bastardized English creoles.
If not fairly heavily indoctrinated, most people would not be that religious.
I hear this argument a lot, but I have never seen anyone back it up with evidence. I know it is anecdotal so close to meaningless, but my reason to doubt is the largest church in my hometown has a congregation of over 1,600 people, and a vast majority of them were not raised in Christian homes. Now the catholic church and school, in which children are heavily indoctrinated and I don't think a single member wasn't raised in a catholic home, has seen steady and fairly rapid decline.
IANAL, but in the US you in pretty much all cases you are capable of responding with equal force (if I person punches you, you can punch them, however you can't nail them in the face with a hammer). In cases where there is a reasonable threat to your life you can respond with greater force, even to the point of maiming or death. What a reasonable threat is varies state to state, as I understand it. I know in some places they have upheld use of firearms against trespassers, and I've also heard in Texas firearms are allowed against someone defacing or vandalizing your property (though the way I've heard the Texas law is if you yell or warn the person and they stop their vandalism then shoot them it is considered retribution and you are open to criminal charges - so it is better to shoot first and ask questions later). My knowledge the Texas law is hearsay, and very well could be false, but from the time I've spent in Texas it wouldn't surprise me if it were true.
I second that, followed by getting rid of the annoying things in explorer (the screens warning you about moving files in c:\Windows\ and c:\Program Files, and not hiding file extensions) and setting visual effects to best performance.
I beat it once. It kind of pissed me off, as it took about 2 years before I could get past the first level, another to get past that water level, and long story short long after they stopped making N64 games I finally beat and was ticked that the ending was not worth the crazy amount of frustrating hours I had put into that game. Easily one of the most frustrating NES games. In fact it kind of pisses me off that they re-released it.
At least some states in America this is actually illegal. There are states where stores are required to give at least store credit, and even though the store policy and sign at the return desk says you can only do same-item exchange if you bring up the state law you can usually get a manager and store credit very quickly.
But in the U.S. online gambling is illegal. As for actual casinos, if they can get a State or a Native American Nation to allow them to build I am pretty sure they are free to do so, however convincing a State or Tribe to allow their casino can be an extremely tricky issue.
At least in the city I grew up in the 2 local religious schools (one catholic and the other baptist) consistently lead the public school in math and science, and by a very wide margin. So I think religion and education can go hand in hand.
Remember the slowing down for towns and such, there are several towns and areas where the train would most likely have to go to 1/4th of its top speed. Add in the time to to accelerate after each slow down and you have a pretty significant amount of time.
Put growth can be (near) instantaneous, due to the stock market and currency exchange. Look at how quickly Google's value shot up after their IPO, and the growth and investments they were able to make because of that sudden growth. Growth is not always instantaneous, but it can be. Microsoft making less money does not mean anyone benefits, it just means Microsoft benefits less. Just because Microsoft Office doesn't sell as many copies doesn't mean that Open Office will have more downloads or Word Perfect will have more purchases, it just means less people bought Microsoft Office.
I reread your post a couple times, and either you did not include your point, you did not convey your point well, or I am blind to something. So what exactly is your point?
For going to Canada I think that matters what citizenship you are and what your countries deal with Canada is. I attend a large university in Michigan, and when making trips to Canada I have friends that can't go due to restrictions on their visas or a few can go if we give them about 6 weeks for the Canadian visa application process, and others just need a stamp in their passport or just have to show their passport.
No, the billions don't come from nowhere. They come from companies and economies growing. Do you think that there has always been, and always will be, 6 trillion dollars circulating in the world? For the Great Britian's economy to grow does it require the U.S.A.'s economy to fall? Look into capitalism, and positive-sum games.
Umm... what? I thought we moved past mercantilism over a century ago. Less abuse of monopoly status and illegal business practices is better for everyone else, but it is possible for multiple companies in the same industry to all grow and increase in size and profitability.
I just got one less than a week ago, after trying since they come out. Keep track of the locator one of the previous responses posted, that is what I used to get mine.

This link says otherwise.

Almost, but my fridge is stocked with Blue Moon, not Rolling Rock.
