Oops, I clicked the wrong reply apparently, I meant to be agreeing with you and the parent I originally responded to. They had no reason to let him out of jail until he already died of cancer.
Sometimes the walls are also poured concrete, though nowadays they tend to be hollow concrete blocks. Makes it hell to deploy wireless networking - you need routers in every room.
If you have a router in every room... don't you need a wire going to that router in every room? And if you have a wire going to every room, why are you bothering with wireless?
If you've ever heard a speech by any american politician, especially in the period right after 9/11, you're probably familiar with the term "american lives". Some lives are apparently worth more than others, and the american ones are at the top.
Seeing as Americans are the ones who elect said politicians in office I am pretty sure a politician is going to value those people more. As a politician those live are worth more, for those lives can vote. Lives that can't vote are meaningless unless they are a factor in the lives of the people who can vote.
Don't fool yourself, many times both lies kill people. Lies told to keep us out of WWII lead to thousands of European casualties, lies told to help us go into WWII lead to thousands of German causalities. Under Saddam many Kurds were killed in Iraq, under America many Arabs are getting killed in Iraq. In matters of corrupt government the lies only effect who is killing and getting killed, either way there are still people dying.
Did you miss the entire history of the American Frontier, or the fact that former Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton was killed in a duel with Vice President Aaron Burr?
Alright, I'm not sure how many locks you have in your house, but I don't think that will be more than $120. $1 for the bum, and we are at $121. I'll guess your car takes somewhere around $40 a tank of gas, so we are at $161. Not sure about your bar, but we will say a round for everyone will be $150, so we are at $311. A bouquet we will put at $30, and say it is for your mom's birthday as this is slashdot and you don't have a wife. And lets put milk at $3 a gallon bringing us to $344. That means you paid about $620 for a couple hours in your car with a whore. I think the whore screwed you in more than one sense of the word.
The only "modern" OS I've gotten to run well on old hardware is BeOS. I have an old PII and BeOS is much faster and more responsive than Windows 98. Unfortunately BeOS doesn't have a large library of software. Only other OS I've got to run decently on the old machine is Damn Small Linux, but that was far from speedy.
I agree with you, but only on expressways. I HATE when I have to make a pass on the right side on expressways. On normal highways I understand people may have a left hand turn coming up, but that is not an issue on any expressway I drive on. That is about the only thing that makes me mad when I drive.
According to Wikipedia not nearly small enough, as Supercaps are at 3-5 W.h/kg and current batteries are at 30-40 W.h/kg, so that is about 10x the mass for the same duration. Sounds great for cars, buses, trains and things of that sort, but I don't see them making it into anything portable anytime soon.
Not wanting another Zelda is fair criticism, isn't it?,/i>
I don't think that is a fair criticism. That would be like rating a racing game, basketball game, or RPG down just because you didn't want another one. Maybe if you have originality included in your scale I may accept it, but I think you should only grade a game based on gameplay, controls, fun, graphics/style, and sound. Now the review should most definitely state something along the lines of "This is another Zelda game like the past few, if you don't like the past few you probably won't like this one".
Personally for lights and locks I like the idea of each person in the house having an RFID chip on them. The chip is used for music preferences, lighting brightness, maybe even pictures on the wall (I'm thinking digital frames), and open certain cabinets - such as the liquor cabinets and wine cooler. I personally would not want to be reminded of my laundry while watching the new blockbuster action movie, so I hope your vision becomes reality I hope that it is highly configurable.
Why do I need everything to communicate? Why does my living room lighting need to know what is in my refrigerator, or my home theatre system need to know what sweaters and in my closet? I just don't see a reason in integrate the whole house - but I do like a lot of the ideas here and wish I had them (my refrigerator being able to tell me what I can make with what I have and when I am running low on something, for example, is the coolest in my opinion).
I've been thinking that the PS3 is looking a lot like the N64. When making the N64 Nintendo was really arrogant and high off of the success of the Super Nintendo. If you look at the interviews leading up to the Gamecube Nintendo was basically saying "Yeah, we really screwed the pooch on the N64 - this system should correct all of our mistakes" and switched to optical disks, put better sound processing in, and made the system easier to develop for. I don't think the PS3 will cause Sony to tank (or cause them to sell/close/separate their games division) or anything like that, but I do think they will be knocked out of their number one spot, like Nintendo was.
It is because the link is to the "printer friendly" version, if you go to the normal version it looks normal, but they do that annoying one-paragraph-per-page thing so it spans seven pages. Normal version here.
It is still trespassing, as he didn't obey the rules. The rules state you must be a student and have your ID after normal hours. At almost any public institution areas are only public and free from worry of trespass during normal hours, after normal hours there are hoops you have to jump through (like having an ID, signing in on a sheet, having authorization from an employee, having authorization from a supervisor, etc). If you fail to do this you can be charged with trespassing.
would much prefer a good beating than a Taz, just because you can't see the after effects doesn't mean they aren't bad
You have obviously not ever had a good beating. Having it physically hurt to walk, not see out of your right eye, and have dreadful pain in your right ear for a week is a lot worse then feeling fatigued.
I think it really depends on the taser. I have been hit by one that knocked my wind out and knocked me down, but I still would have been able to get up (or at least make an effort to) in about a minute or two. I have also been hit by one that left me standing, but sure as hell not wanting to get shocked again (that one was one that sent too cords out and actually stuck into my skin).
I would fully agree with you, but how do you know this guy is innocent? Living on a college campus I can tell you there are a lot of crazy people around. If a person in a student area doesn't have proof of being a student and doesn't immediately leave when asked then I, as a student, would want them removed - forcefully if necessary. That is one of the benefits of using university libraries instead of municipal libraries, and one of the benefits of a university dorm over an apartment complex. Being on a campus where I saw programs like this put into place I can tell you it is not just a feeling of security - most crimes on campus are committed by non-students and incidences of assault in the dorms have dropped greatly since ID was mandatory to enter the dorms after 9 pm.

Umm... if you read what you quoted the results saying he was innocent didn't come out until 10 months after he died.
Odd... I thought MANY militias had cannons in the early US with no problems...

Price breakdown, because this is slashdot...

How is that racist? Where did he say Africa? What the hell?

Come on L. Ron, you know these aren't the psychiatrists. There is no evidence of the climatologists supporting Xenu.

My mother was jammed by a cellphone, you insensitive clod!
I'm still waiting for the real Ultima VIII and IX.
RIP Origin.

Yeah, I think the 3DO and the NeoGeo are also missing.
