corporations shouldn't even have rights as an individual
Yes and no. Should they have the right to free speech? Yes, with the same limits as an individual. The right to bear arms? No, I don't think Omnicorp needs guns. The right deny boarding of government troops? Yes, I sure don't want weekend warriors taking over my cubicle.
That is the record companies responding to the fear that Apple might get too much bargaining power (like how Walmart forced them to lower CD prices). They were willing to make concessions in hopes that iTunes would lose a bit of power (and I think that at least Amazon worked out very well).
Yes, there are earth aliens. In fact, my dictionary defines alien as "one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they are living". I would apologize for being pedantic, but this is slashdot and you should know better.
Wow, have some anger issues there? This isn't about not fixing bugs, this is about prioritizing bug fixes. Anything this large is going to have massive amounts of bugs (I can't count the times I've updated packages in Ubuntu, and the OS-X bug fixes come by the hundreds per.x release). Microsoft, just like Apple and Canonical, has limited resources to fix said bugs (and actually Apple and Canonical get some free work done for them, due to use of open source packages).
I actually think a major factor would be fewer points of failure. You have 3 buttons, one switch, the screen, the case, the chip and the battery. I would imagine the failure rate of highly used keyboard buttons on the blackberry would be much higher than the touchscreen.
Let me rephrase: Is the government connection overt or covert? I have spent time in communist companies, with ventures owned 51% by the government, and I am wondering if this is one of those, a bit shady, or just a local company that the government would like to encourage growth of (similar to how in France, while on business trips, you assume you are being bugged and information will go to your local competition).
Well not if you don't live in the U.S. Even if you do live there, I don't remember any recent file sharing cases ending in jail time. Fees that turn your life into indentured servitude maybe, but not jail.
Just wondering, does Baidu have government connections? I remember seeing that it is the top search engine in China, but is it because it is the government de facto (de jure?) or because it just has mass appeal in China?
As I understand it they don't approve of all decoders, but allow them. As I understand it they will fight arm and leg for encoders though, as they see that as their money maker. I may be talking out of my ass though, so mod me accordingly.
Yes, because I can't use non-Apple software on my MacBook, can't use the Amazon MP3 store, don't have Firefox, don't have VLC, and of course there is no other partition on my hard drive for another OS. Oh wait, that is all false.
I used to think this too. Than I got a job that required me to travel a lot, and discovered you can't count on getting free WiFi all of the time. If you are in a college town you are usually set, but I've even been burned there before.
Checking cars/people at the border helps a bit, but the good operations have a tunnel under the border. Search news sites and you will find that they have discovered many of these by them collapsing. Hence checking cars past the border, that might be leaving the pick up points.
In the demos there was a stage between the cellular and the land, I was disappointed with this not being included. I had hopes for being able to build underwater colonies, but this was made impossible. It also seemed like creativity was stifled, as it took points to add parts but you needed to be sure your stats were effective.
There is no justification for the average American earning 10X what another person doing an equivalanet job earns.
Yes and no. It really depends on geographic supply, demand, and cost of transportation. Also, I have to ask, why does this have to be due to the dollar declining instead of lower valued currencies increasing to the value of the dollar, or wages raising to American levels? It's not like the USA is the only country with multimillionaires and high-wage jobs (the world's richest man is a Mexican for crying out loud).
In the corporate culture I'm used to, you NEVER do personal stuff on business equipment (not because of policy or anything like that, but mostly due to not trusting IT to not read your e-mails/files, plus possible suspicion when/if discovered you have been polishing up your resume).
Thanks a ton for pointing me to that wiki page. I dislike everything listed for problem foods (with the exception of a few alcoholic beverages), and now will have to look more into this. Thanks again!
I've considered that, but my sense of taste seems to be better than almost all my peers (all of which have a better sense of smell than me). When younger I attributed it to that (possibly false) idea that if one sense is dampened the others senses are stronger. However I think it could be that my palette is more discriminating of texture, but that still strikes me as a far fetch.
I always hear this, but it always baffles me. I have almost no sense of smell. I can smell, but it has to be a very powerful oder, or practically in my nose. When people ask "Do you smell that?" my answer is, more often than not, "No". However I have a very keen sense of taste. What gives?
I have, and have used the concept to acquire many things I highly enjoy. However you still could not convince me to save up for a high-end luxury car rather than the car I drive today (bought with savings, not with financing). On the same sentiment, I was able to be convinced to buy a (refurbished) MacBook Pro rather than a Macbook; there are many times the upgrades are worth the time/convenience - I understand this but still don't see how the $170 card falls into the "cheap" category.

All these years I thought shark nipples were a measure of area, well I guess you learn something new every day.

yeah, they covered that Rufus Rainwright song.

Since when has the U.S. directed thepiratebay.org (or suprnova, or mininova, or demonoid, etc.) to google.com?

Then we had to edit the autoexec.bat and config.sys
Edit? I wrote them from scratch! I still have etched into my brain "SET blaster=A220 I5 D1".

I would highly recommend Magic Hat Brewery, particularly #9 (the "not quite pale ale"). I've been able to find it very easily around MI.

Really dense lead?
