I'm on round four of UI benefits and I'm getting just a we bit pissed at HR for wasting gobs of my time.
My credit report certainly has not been helpful thus far, so I suppose I'll feel entitled to failure. Who ever I am.
Once again, corporations are not people, but they want human rights. Their bottom line is their self interest, and people are their biggest liability unless they are proactive. Screw the employees and the customer; shareholder dividend is the goal, whenever possible, and permissible by law. Its seems peculiar that this company is shrewd enough to perform the illegal research, and yet, somehow incapable of following procedure, or limiting their legal exposure. Hmmm... I wonder if perhaps some of the employees that successfully passed that background check are really quite enjoying themselves now..... or maybe I'm just a wee bit cynical and mistrustful of corporate power in the hands of people.
I think you're absolutely correct. Telcos, ISP's, Comcast, Google, Yahoo, and MSN are all PUBLIC. Cloud apps/data systems information are like the Signs posted on an interstate highway. To place all medical or proprietary info on google apps is a very convenient excuse for insurance companies to steal unauthorized access to that data. Even if congress limits or prohibits their use of medical history to exclude coverage (due to preexisting conditions) you can be sure they want that data anyway. Without a doubt, those who want that information the most, will find and get it first, right from the "cloud" or the airwaves. Digitizing the actual records will enable it's unbridled transmission, sooner or later. Even if your files are "sealed", the medical billing contains detailed coding and prices. This data is in a wide area networks of health care administration, credit bureaus, billing & collection services, and accountants data systems....so they have bits and pieces. Meanwhile, lets try not to make the process so easy for them (insurance) - make 'em pay, make 'em pay.
People are evil. Corporations are not people, but people hide within their edifice in order to control others. Self interest is always abundant in our economy and society; and corporate greed is just a vehicle for that objective. Google, like Soylent Green, is people. If Google "Does No Evil" is that the same thing as "doing the right thing?" Perhaps its a start, but corporations don't deserve human rights, and people don't deserve a corporate domination of society and power. Our institutions need to be as accountable to society as our citizens - and its time we expect more from our people. Bottom lines despise human beings - and corporations would prefer no payroll or human interaction. Shareholders want profit, and it is a dehumanizing influence on the people who decide to lay off workers and rip off their customers. Incentives on the bottom line ignore other people's quality of life.
The fact is that if Google Apps is not secure enough for you, then neither is any network data that also shares a connection to the internet. Lets be honest, any network connection is a pathway to your data. If you really want security, close the loop. Otherwise, Google Apps is perhaps an appropriate reminder that you're ultimately vulnerable. If hackers can get onto the Google Apps Servers, then they're not going to be stopped by your internet security either. At least, not for long....Buggy browsers, malware, users, and Windows will eventually leave you naked. Google Apps is appropriate for many and is more secure than a Trojan bot key logger root kit polymorphic virus windows IE beta orgy toolbar macro, like most small business systems that I encounter.
Lets be fair, he's in possession of stolen property, and although he has turned himself into the authorities, the law applies to all criminals, no matter how they draw a pension. Perhaps the blokes that raid private events based on facebook tags should try the swat team or bomb squad and put a stop to extortion and misuse of public authority. Its looking like a gang related organized crime syndicate, or perhaps its all a coincidence or just an invitation for the blue hats to hack his target rich database. This is a great idea and true demonstration of the public view. We can be far more efficient at handling this pinhead misuse of authority, by commanding the authority in exactly the way that you suggest!

This is right on the money actually. I know its "funny", and it is, but when you really consider how courts conduct themselves, its pretty accurate and "insightful". Wiki and expert testimony are both prone to the same degree of accuracy mixed with manure. The same could be said of most human opinion in general. Maybe wiki is an appropriate source for "experts" who testify on behalf of one side of an adversarial legal trial process, after all. Ironic.
Right. These statements, like "Don't be a leech to society" rarely sway anyone or change anybodies mind. In fact its annoyingly condescending and sanctimonious. This tone inspires resistance from many. Depending on who's ear you have, its either "preaching to the choir" or its an accusation that alienates. It seems impolite and patronizing. "Do what thou wilt...." to paraphrase another philosophy, is a little more persuasive than a righteous sermon or a penal code. We all know the score, we've heard the rap, we don't need another lecture or civics lesson. I don't mean to accuse you personally, just the impulse to discuss these ethics topics, in general...the Slash Dostoyevsky stuff.
I dunno, the NTSB usually drags their feet before stating anything. They usually don't make statements about suspicion of what may have happened without specific evidence. This seems like an unusual announcement from them, not their usual style. I wonder if they are compelled to state a truth that they fell won't be properly addressed otherwise.
