DirectX 10 relies on the completely new WDDM driver display model for Vista. Hell, DirectX 9 games can't even run on DirectX 10. They've got to include both versions in Vista. A few developers have said that any efforts on their part to backport DirectX to the old driver model would have resulted in DX10 features being scrapped, performance hits, and further delays.
The problem is that if the HDMI DRM crap is implemented with Vista, then the content providers simply won't let Apple users run it without similar provisions in place....In the end, everybody loses.
"Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition provides better value in server virtualization. Licensing policy changes now allow customers to run up to 4 virtual instances of Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition on one licensed physical server or hardware partition."
That isn't C#. That isn't C# at all... It's like a horrible mix of VB, C#, and who knows what.//Now this....
public static void main()
{
stupid microsoft = new stupid();
microsoft.Bankrupt = new EventHandler(on_Bankrupt);
microsoft.GoBankruptIn = 100;
microsoft.Start();
Application.Run();
}
public void on_Bankrupt(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
linux Ubutunu = new linux();
linux.DominatePlanet();
(sender as stupid).Dispose();
}
There we go.
I know for a fact that AutoCAD will not run over terminal services. And the fact is that most software will run horribly like that. 3dsmax, maya, photoshop. I can't even begin to imagine....
If you haven't told it not to tell you what the information bar is, It'll tell you. (One click) Click the bar (Two Clicks) Click Install (Three Clicks) It then asks if you'd like to install it. (Four Clicks)
Four clicks. It's not as insecure as it used to be.
Windows Media Player 11 is pretty nice. I've been using it with Vista, and have been impressed with Microsoft's progress. Plus, it just looks so much better than iTunes. I mean, I really hate apps that skin themselves to look non-standard. WMP fits in so perfectly with Aero...
Then by your logic, because 2003 inherits from XP, and because XP inherits from 2000, and because 2000 inherits from NT4, which, naturally has some code from NT3.51, of course, that had to inherit from 3.5, and all the way down to Windows NT 3.1
Vista uses the same 'core' as Windows NT 3.1.
Right? But seriously, Something tells me that they've changed quite a few things.
Well, It takes 5 disks for a single season in regular defininition. And I was under the impression that Atlantis was actually SHOT in HD....So...I don't think that'd make any sense.
.NET languages too. I've done quite a bit of C# coding with notepad++ when Visual Studio wasn't readily available (School computers.).
Hell, I'm using Vista on my media center right now, and I have to say I love it.

"Are we 100% sure that Windows Vista will use NTFS?"
Yes. The only change I've seen to NTFS is the addition of Transactional NTFS support, though.
Now we need an article explaining WHY anyone would want to do this....the HOW is trivial.
Ah yes, the System.Bathroom.Shower namespace.....
Would you rather have Microsoft write the DRM, or have Sony write the DRM and include it as a mandatory install on every dvd?
Either way, the DRM would be there.
Does a file system driver have to run in kernel mode? Honestly, I have no idea...is there any way to make it run as a user mode driver?
"Current "high resolution" screens are bigger, not more densely pixelled." The 15.4" 1920x1020 screen in many newer laptops would disagree.

Throw on the fact that your Business editions won't be used at home, and the home editions shouldn't be used in a business environment....
Now we'll all need tin-foil T-shirts.

Ok. The fact that they are putting Stargate Atlantis on Blu-Ray makes it that much more appealing...
"While these never really got used for major software products" 3D Studio Max/Viz both used them. And didn't AutoCAD use them too?
"As soon as Gentoo come up with an installer that will leave me with a bootable bare bones system, I'll give it another try."
Blasphemy.
How about these? http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/homs/specimen.html
