    Let's not wax sentimental about our space exploits thus far.

    The shuttle and the international space station continued this record of dismal return on investment.

    The article starts with a misleading statement. The premise is no return comes out of the space technology and practices. Wrong. Communications, GPS and weather forecasting all have satellites in common. I'm sure there's many more industries than what I come up with.

    You bet someone's making a bunch of money off that.

    Now I know who's blowing themselves up halfway around the globe. Great. So I got that going for me.

    The average joe flying across the country on vacation doesn't need to be on his cell phone, but there are all sorts of scenarios (involving family medical emergencies, etc.) that would make cell access on the plane more than just a convenience.

    Yep, I had to use the phone once on a flight. I found the phone conveniently located in the seatback in front of me to suffice. I used at my convenience and was careful not to disturb my fellow travelers. I took great care that I was not responsible for worsening an already uncomfortable situation.

    Who do people need to be in constant contact with?

    There must be some cellphone rule similar to electronic bands that strives for lowest energy by preferentially pairing two cell phonies together so real life is not disrupted.

    Technology now can make an automaton that will carry a conversation with some useless talking head with a spock ear phone. I suggest that planes be equipped with an interceptor device that talks to the sheep that can't be without continuous chatter.

    Scientists who get PhDs found a problem that seriously interested them in college, and continued to study it; generally not worrying about the money. These are the scientists who do things that really and truly matter. "Scientists" who look at the earnings potential for a PhD in physics and decided to go for that and then look for a job, aren't.

    Yeah, it's a calling. Just like being a high school football coach. Seriously, no one will ever do the great work you do. I just wish I had a dollar for every Phd that was not worth a tinker's damn.

    Dark Matter is an ad hoc theory. Dark Matter is made up crap and came directly from the ass of a physicist that drank too much snake oil. How does this guy's work differ? We'll never know from this article.

    A non-Newtonian gravity theory is now fully specified on all scales by a smooth continuous function. It is ready for fellow scientists to falsify.

    Describing a function with words is lacking at best. When I first read this I thought "they're poised to falsify data?"

    The author uses words like: Legend, mystery, golden laws. I expect the headline below this article to say "Mr. Fuzzy Wuzzy weds Batman".
