  1. Actually, on Apple to Offer Monthly iTunes TV Subscriptions · · Score: 5, Interesting

This is pretty cool. The iTunes model .. could be worse. With my Mac that runs iTunes and my iPod, I hardly even notice the DRM. iTunes prices are very reasonable, legit :P, and go straight into my library. AAC provides decent enough music for my 2.1 speaker system (or my headphones). iTMS MPEG-4 provides decent enough quality video for 2 bucks an episode. There is definitely tons of room for improvement, but seeing as they're the dominant force in the online legit music business, they could make the predicament much, much worse.

  2. Of course on 'No Quick Fix' From Nuclear Power · · Score: 1

...nuclear power isn't going to quickly absorb our need for efficient power. However, with different innovations here and there collectively they can diminish the problem to a minimum. When I say this, I'm specifically thinking about the Norwegian salinity power plants. From the stated article, "The principle is that fresh water and salt water are channelled into a membrane module. The fresh water is transported through the membranes and over into the pressurised seawater. One of the properties of the membranes is that they transport water but not salt. The pressurised mixture of seawater and fresh water (brackish water) flows out of the module and into a hydropower turbine that generates electricity."

  4. Re:ah excellent... on Anti-virus Vendors Eye Cell Phones · · Score: 1

My point is: Would you rather use a knife, fork and spoon, or one device that has them all together? While it may be handier to carry them all as one device, having them as different devices will make each of their jobs stronger at what they do. In this case, you won't have to worry about your _cell phone_ getting viruses. Besides -- who uses their cell phone _camera_ as their main camera?

  5. Re:ah excellent... on Anti-virus Vendors Eye Cell Phones · · Score: 1

Amen to that. This is rediculous. You know why people are getting viruses on their cell phone? Because they're no longer a cell phone . I mean really, get a PDA for your mobile needs. Or even a laptop. Get an MP3 player for your music needs. I'd rather not spend my day waiting for norton to slow down my cell phone as well as every windows computer I use. #endif // rant

They're going to be against this not only because Windows computers will be at the top of the list, but because the anti-malware software industry is so large now, and Microsoft is planning to get its fair share of the industry (Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta?). That is to say, if they're not already getting the benefit from Norton and their other partners. They want their systems to be infected but they want their friendly Windows utilities to come to the rescue and download the latest 'patches'.
