TBH though, I don't see the hype. So, it runs Linux, and does absolutely nothing useful. Big freaking deal. Lots of geek points, yes, but minus several million engineer points in the practicality department?
It's easier to carry than a dead badger.
TBH though, it won't ever do anything on a pda, and people will never program for the pda incarnation...
Wait for it...
If it doesn't actually *run* on the pda first.
If lack of ported apps is a rationale for not getting the OS to run on new hardware, how would OSes ever get ported?
This may seem good in the short term, but when your beloved GPL application turns up in a Brazilian program designed to create and share child pornography you won't exactly be laughing.
You may as well say "This may seem good in the short term, but when your beloved printing press is used to create and share child pornography you won't exactly be laughing."
The GPL doesn't differentiate with regard to what code is used for; it just mandates that derivitave code be released under the GPL.
The parent is using child pornography for shock value exclusively.
I submit that kiddie porn may be poised to replace Hitler as the new Godwinesque indefensible extreme.
What with American copyright holders going out of their way to be dickweeds in public, and the fact that things actually make it into the public domain in Australia, something like this was bound to happen.
It should have been a more fitting title than Gone with the Wind, though. 1984 entered the public domain in Australia in 1999.
Underdog is here? please.
I knew Shoe Shine Boy. He was humble. And Loveable. And Microsoft, you are no Shoe Shine Boy!

A man goes to the doctor with a cold. Cold lasts for weeks, nothing stops it. The patient starts getting mad and yells at the doctor. Calls him incompetent. Says he can't even cure a cold.
The doctor says "Ok. I want you to take a cold shower, don't dry off, and stand outside stark naked for an hour"
Unless it's some loser Japanese cartoon, don't expect CN to get behind it in any way.
Please. They don't get behind anime at all unless it's DBZ. They made a half-hearted attempt with Cowboy Bebop, and they're probably going to make a half-hearted attempt with Lupin III.
Here's the problem, as I see it: The people who don't know any better and think that DBZ is quality programming will watch it, bad dubbing, heinous editing and all.
The people who prefer good anime and wish that CN would show it occasionally get their wish. Then they see that their favority anime has received the Cartoon Network Treatment, cringe in pretentious terror, and change the channel.
Thus, the good anime gets shitty ratings, and DBZ gets yet another time slot.
It may be significant that the anniversary of a Congressional resolution "favoring a Jewish homeland in Palestine" falls on this date. Then again, if you go back a century or two, you may find a lot of anniversaries that seem just as significant.
>Yeah, approximately 1 out of every 365 events that has ever happened happened on this day.

Old joke, I know.

The movie may have come out in Japan in 2001, but it premiered in LA in 2002, which is why it's eligible for the 2002 oscars instead of 2001.
