There is a massive amount of research into cancer, and yet there is no "golden bullet" to cure cancer. Do you honestly think that aging, which I would argue is a field in its infancy, could be "cured" (or delayed ~10 fold as you suggest) within our lifetime? Or do you make that statement more so just to bring attention to the study of aging?

Just a few technical notes regarding this post.
    1) Silent mutations can still cause problems, such as altering splicing (e.g., HGPS/progeria) so this statement should not be absolute "if the changes nucleotide doesn't change the corresponding amino acid, it doesn't matter"
    2)Introns are removed, not exons.
3)Again, your statement is generally true, but some instances exist where loss of 1 copy of a gene can still be detrimental.
I'm not trying to be rude, just commenting. I agree that to interpret the data, one would need a good deal of education within the subject.

That's something that scares me about Obama. He seems to be capable of doing no evil, according to many of his supporters. When some negative aspect regarding him is brought up, it is simply dismissed without regard. Which, in some sense, is reminiscent of Bush and his supporters. I'm not saying Obama is or will be as atrocious as G.W.(I pray to zombie-jesus that no president during the rest of my lifetime will be as bad as W). I'd just like to point out that we shouldn't exempt Obama from the scrutiny and skepticism that should always be employed.

To turn the 360 into a useful media center use this program http://www.tversity.com/. It takes a little bit of effort to set up, i.e. must have codecs and such (install help - http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1002/playing_div x_and_xvid_content_on_xbox_360_an_easy_guide/index .html), . It runs on a networked PC and transcodes, on the fly, various video formats from your PC (including xvid) into wmv so the 360 will play them (assuming the 360 has a reasonably recent firmware update). It does what I thought the 360 should have done out of the box. After getting this working on my 360, I have since canceled my cable.

Since no one else seems to be pointing this out, there are 2 main "types" of HD. One is 1080i or 1920x1080 interlaced and the other is 720p or 1280x720 progresive scan. They are arguable to as which one is better, since one has a higher resolution and the other has progressive scan (better for fast moving things - all pixels are refreshed at the same time versus half of the lines of pixels are refreshed then the other half are). I'm sure a simple google could explain it better than myself though. Also of note, 1080p might end up a format used.
