I am taking a collage level physics lab right now, and we just did a lab on RC circuits; I thought it was cool to learn how the RC circuits could be used as high-pass or low-pass filter for a speaker(It was cool to remember seeing an RC circuit in the sub woofer I had installed in my car years ago(but did not know what it was at the time). I was like wow. I know how that works now:) ). Any ways I would suggest looking at what is being done in some university physics labs and 'borrow' there good ideas. yea a lot the labs are kinda boring but there are some good ones.
I believe that its illegal to let a crawlers run 'wild' on the internet in the first place(unless you have permission to do so). at least that was what i was told in my cs class where we made a web crawler. So in either case they will catch a 'bad' guy... but seriously I don't think this is fair. If i hack my friend's computer and install a VNC program on it and use VNC to use there computer to go to the 'porn' site. then they get there house searched! it seems too easy to 'fuck' with this and frame some one???
Then when other people download it we have proof that they(the other people) were doing something 'wrong'(if there actions are out side of fair use). This means we have have our fair use rights back!!! Well as long as we keep the responsibility with the person that has the file and _not_ the person who may of shared the file. Its a big step forward from DRM at least in my view.
thanks you for the link to HCL.... I _have_ had problems finding a usb wifi card that works well in linux. I bought and returned 10 different cards from best buy with NO luck. I will check the list and hopefully find one that works good. I hope the list has detailed information. other list of compatibility i have read were really shitty. And by the way I do have driver issues with linux for various things. But I like the idea of OSS and GNU so i don't care. But don't pretend that every thing is peachy.... there are bad spots on the peach too.
it is disgusting that it came out with: "With eight votes in favor". i think these 8 members of the board need re-evaluated. This is a sad reflection on how big business can mess-up wonderful things made by society.
what if the person was using a dynamic IP address(say cable modem or dial-up)?? your 'solution' will block the next random guy who gets there old IP address. right?
ms office is pretty aggressive about auto saving a back up of where you are in you document. when i was working on a lab write up for my physics class open office crashed on me, and i lost a good bit of work. my last save was before the last chunk of work i had done. i had to redo a some stuff. but that situation was avoidable if it had correctly auto saved my work. maybe this was just a bug(i think it normally auto saves my work). but OO in my view has too many bugs right now. i use its equation editor also but some expressions don't get printed correctly(and its interface is BAD too the equations only refresh 'correctly' if you scroll the window up then back down). it's close to great but not there yet. i would say, if one's business has people able to adapt to changes AND it can meet all you need go for it. else it will likely cost you a lot to use it. for people that can't adapt to change easily OO will just confuse them and likely end up with them wasting time. I remember my little cousin doing his HW on OO and wanting some kind of bubble letter font that was in MS office. he spent hours looking through all the menus for some thing to make bubble letters. To him ALL word processors he though would have this feature so just had to find it. Then he started to search the Internet for pictures of bubble letters to add to the OO document as pictures. long story short it wasted a lot of his time.
i think positive feelings and emotions could be correlated to resistance to cold/flu since people with positive moods are normally under less stress... and since studies show stress of any kind lower one immune system; this is just reconfirming that stress lowers ones immune system ability.... or maybe its the other way around. when one is stressed they have negative emotions and feel badly, thus stress appears to lower immune system ability, but actually its just how you think about the stress the causes the lower immune resistance. or maybe some kind of inter action of the two.
i know personal accounts are pretty meaning less.. but here it goes anyways::> i recently switched to linux on my desktop and the first disro i used was kno??ix(i don't remember how to spell it)i picked it first because i could run it with-out having to install any thing. when i put a real distro on my computer i went with fedora core... since i had read it was the "bleading edge" of red hat and had a big company backing it, i figured that if red hat can be sold and used and this is just whats coming next that it would work good/or better too. Big surprise!! it booted so slowly(i guess my fault partly too since there was some trouble with my wifi card on boot... it would spend 5 min trying to connect before going to boot the rest of the system; but even with out the card it seemed too boot slow). i tolerated that and likely would never have switched; but then almost randomly my gnome session got really messed up; the whole system would just freeze; have to unplug and restart. still same problem.. i switched to using kde from gnome. it worked a little bit.. but still froze. i stopped using that computer.. not sure if the problem was software.. or hardware(corrupted hard drive failing).. i later used ubuntu on another computer and it went much smoother.. so i put it on that computer and had no serious problems. Fedora i don't think is for noobs. i want every thing working to start, and later when i want to play with it be able to do that too. but i think that if one is going to go to the effort to use a gnu/linux distro they will find one that suits them. and every one else will just ask, and there friend will tell them to use some noob friendly distro. so no worries it did not stop me.
"there are a billion search sites out there"...wow i only know of like 20... i hope there all sharing the responsibility of indexing all the webs sites out there... there must be like a _million_ on them to index. if each of the billion search sites try to index that information at the same time it could like DOS the whole Internet.
"our founding fathers set up our educational system" so we could know how to vote? i don't believe this do you have a source to quote from, or is this just your view? not sure if the founding fathers set up the eduction system or if it set its self up?
how does not voting "forfeit all right to complain about anything your government does." I have never heard this law!!(at least not in the US). but seriously there are many good reasons to not vote(and bad reasons to not vote(and _bad_ reasons to vote)). if one were planing on leaving there country and moving to live in different country in the near future, or lives in another country and has dual citizenship, they should _only_ vote in the country there actively (living in)/(going to be living in). They have the right to vote in the other country but that would be _immoral_. One should not vote if they don't feel they understand what there voting for. One should not vote if they don't feel they have researched enough to understand the issues at hand. One should not vote if they think that not voting could make more important changes(getting better selection of choices; getting better access to _good_ non-bias information on officials). One should not vote if they _literary_ 100% don't care about any of the issues at hand. One should choose not to vote if they know there not smart/capable enough to make a good choice(I think i fall in this category). People say, "People died to give us the _right_ to vote", but but i think what they really _mean_ is 'people died to give us the right to change/august/fix our political system'. Voting is not the only way to 'change/august/fix our political system'. Not voting can be a stronger political stance then voting. There are many bad reasons people vote too. they think one person looks better. they saw a lots of signs with that persons name...
if i have this all backwards some one please explain it to me.
That depends. If he wanted to watch videos clips Knoppix would not help much. a lot of the videos clips out there are in proprietary formats. If he just wants to look at a few pictures then yea, that will work ok. And i will assume he did not want to dl full length movies, since that takes while and one would want to keep if after it finishes downloading. being a business laptop, the bios might have been password protected(meaning no booting from any thing but the hard drive). sure he could flash the bios, but that is pretty strong evidence that he was tampering with the machine(plus he would have to open laptop... a bit more work then some would want to do). maybe he could change the boot loader on the hard drive to boot a cd instead of just the the OS(be it unix/linux/osx/windows/or what ever). but that is only possible if his login account has privileges enough to access that part of the hard drive. I don't know, i am sure there are was around all of this. but it might not be as simple as putting a disk in the cd-rom drive.
i though his book was a best seller world wide?.... how much profites does one 'all-mighty' need.. can't we just share his book and not worri about the repurctions of stealing such widely avaible material... besides if he really cared about it he would have protected it hime-self. to hell with ur silly morals... where can i get a free copy??
