  1. SCOTUS Brand X Decision impact on Coalition Sounds Off on Net Neutrality Legislation · · Score: 1

Would "net neutrality" and any bill requiring it be struck down by the Supreme Court, based on their ruling that cable cos (and the FCC added DSL) dont have to share their lines with competitors?

  3. Customer Service on Dell's Marketshare Decline Due to Intel? · · Score: 2, Interesting

I'd chalk it up to worsening customer service and support first. I know people who had been Dell users since win 98, but after purchasing a Dell within the last couple of years wont do it again because of their customer support and they dont last like they used to. I dont think the average buyer would actively seek and AMD over Intel, they would just pick AMD if it was cheaper.

What should we do? I really would like ideas, but everything I have heard so far is unrealistic to to much of a burden for the average person, so it wouldn't be effective. The problem has been discussed plenty here, what is your plan for the solution?

Wont do jack, with 1.2 billion people they have plenty of people to sell to domestically. The only way that government is going to change is if the people of china demand it to. With all that we did to stop the USSR and the spread of communism, the iron curtain wasn't lifted until the people of eastern Europe stood up to their oppressors. Its the same thing that's happening in the middle east, people will not adopt our style of government and our values unless they want to, they cannot be forced. I'm to young to personally remember, but we did some pretty extraordinary things during the cold war when there was a common enemy to work against. Our best strategy may be to continue to work with Chinese companies so if china eventually goes through a revolution our companies will have a leg up with experience on doing business in a new system; the second part would be to bind together to build new technologies to lead the world ahead in this century as well.

This report looks like a marketing ploy by McAfee to counteract Microsoft's OneCare Live product and Microsoft's reported move into stand-alone antispyware. As noted in a Cnet article on the same report, the report states that the term rootkit should be used in relation to malicious software only and not apply towards technology like Sony's DRM rootkit.

from the article: The complaint accuses Google, as the dominant provider of Web searches, of violating KinderStart's constitutional right to free speech by blocking search engine results showing Web site content and other communications. This sounds like trying to sue a newspaper for not publishing a story about your event because it denies you communication about your event. I guess the newspapers should be sued for not saying why they decide to cover some stories but not others.
