To be fair, removing the jack simply because it was an old technology (like the floppy disk) is a lot like removing the steering wheel on a car because it has been there on every cars since the last century. You don't remove something if it is working great and the newer alternative are weaker.
Once you start with MS your paths close up until the only remaining one is: they own you. Maybe if Novell had stayed away from Microsoft they'd be doing better now. Red Hat is doing really very well.
Not true, Apple was once close to Microsoft. M$ even bought shares from Apple but now, Apple is a big competitor.
I'm I the only one thinking that Microsoft should buy the source code of an OS like SkyOS? It's already reasonnably working well and they could throw all their programmers into it to make it usable and workable for PC. I think this way would be better than sticking with and old os that keep adding layer of complexity everytime there's a new version.
Couldn't have used better words to describe what I was thinking. Instead of reusing and unsecured platform for every new Windows version, why not start something completly from scratch like Apple did. We were able to use the Classic environnement in OS X when we needed old app compatibility and it didn't cause any security concerns because the OS9 program were running in a sandbox. The Classic environnement disappeared in OS X Leopard but, we can still use Sheepsaver emulator if we really need OS9. It wouldn't be the first time they copy Apple anyway;-)
You don't even need the Apple logic board to install OSX. In fact OS X can easily be installed on an Intel PC since they use the same cpu in the Mac. Just go to insanely.com and read documentation
I choose the XPS, but I would opt out of the Windows Vista they want to sell with it. I'd rather buy the machine without anything on it, then I could buy Leopard and use the hackingtosh patch (use google if you don't know what it is) to install it on my XPS.
Fuck you big time Microsoft, I'm much more happy with my hackintosh than any crappy M$ system. Thanks, mister Jobs for bringing the OS X system to the X86 world and thanks to all the hackers who made it possible to install it on an unmodified standard pc.
technology called SoftGrid, which allows applications to be virtualised individually, rather than a whole OS. Think Virtual PC or VMware, but instead of virtualising an OS, just a single application is virtualised." Give me a break, this thing isn't new at all. You can use Wine in Linux.
Repeat after me: hydrogen is not a source of energy. At least not on earth. Did you ever saw a company drilling to get to an underground hydrogen source? You probably could find pure hydrogen somewhere else in the solar system but here it's almost always bonded to oxygen to form water. To separate the hydrogen molecules to its oxygen partner, you need electricity, a lot of it. As you may already know, the electricity in USA is almost entirely produced with the combustion of fossil fuel, so no hydrogen won't solve our energy problem.
Maybe that mean we could be become someday "immortal" by transferring our entire mind into a machine. If this machine is capable of self conscience and can replicate all of the human brain, it may be possible to make it emulate the function of an otherwise dead people.
This come after the declaration of Ballmer when he said that pirated copy of Windows was to blame for the poor performance of Windows Vista in the market.
It may be at its limit for the number of megapixels but, there's still a lot of things to improve like the maximum color range a digital camera can record. With 16 bits color channel, we would be able to record a lot more informations so we wouldn't be limited as much when we try to capture a high dynamic range picture. There's tools like in Photoshop CS2 to give you the abilities to have high dynamic range but it would be a lot better to have it directly in the camera.
Seem a litte silly for Microsoft to do something like that when its biggest concurrent is going in the opposite direction and is gaining popularity with the direction he is going.
"You make it seem as if the USSR was trying to export quality materials and the US refused to import in the name of democracy, but the US really just didn't have much to do with it."
Yeah, we always wanted to buy a Lada because they are the best cars in the world....
"It was fairly lightweight, I could load in huge playlists of college-napster-garbage without slowdown and I knew all the hot keys for searching and what not."
This is exactly what Foobar2000 is doing now... Althought it's a little bit harder to configure than Winamp, it's a lot lighter.
Well it may be no more Windows Vista for me too. And I'll convert to Linux when it will be time to upgrade from Windows XP. If Linux can't play the new medias with DRM lock, then I'll just stop buying crap from the industry

Time to nuke global warming!!!
So, in other words it's another Farmville only with more complex interactions and strategy.

They should send UN observers at the election to make sure that there's no cheating.

Looks like we already have another victim of the slashdot effect... Is there a mirror of this site somewhere?

The real term is "magouille de coulisse", but you almost had it. I'm a french canadian from Quebec, by the way...
One more step closer to Big Brother...
